Jerkbait Storge? What do you use?

Just what the title says....anything and everything related to Rods, Reels, Terminal Tackle, Plastics, what others are using, what works, what doesn't work, and anything else you want to talk about regarding equipment.

Jerkbait Storge? What do you use?

Post by lape0019 »

While looking for a better solution to use for storing my jerkbaits, I came across pictures of the shimano jerkbait box and started researching it more. Apparantly the best option I could find, has been discontinued for over 10 years.

I kind of shut down after that so I figured I would turn to FH for your help.

What do you guys use? I am looking for something that can organize 1 bait in a way that it does not get tangled yet hold as many baits as possible.

Any recommendations will be appreciated and looked into with more detail.

Thanks!

I shore fish so I look for compact solutions. For my small lures I use :

http://www.planomolding.com/product.php ... 08&PID=705

For my medium lures I have a Plano box that stores 12 lures in a 2x6config that I can't seem to find on their web site..

For large pike/musky lures I use the Plano 3700 series storage boxes.

What I wold like are single lure storage boxes. It's a shame they don't sell lures in more durable packaging.

Biggs,

That is exactly what I saw last night. The Falcon Fto 709 jerkbait box also seems to be discontinued as well . I guess although making a product that is awesome to do one thing doesn't mean it will sell to the masses. I guess I may have to live with the 3700 boxes at this point.

I was looking at the Bass Mafia deep case in the hopes of being able to store jerkbaits vertical, but I don't think it will be deep enough for the 110's.

.
Thin sheets of closed cell foam are available at the dollar store and serve as excellent "spacers" between lures to allow you to stack baits in compartments without fear of damage to the finishes.

.

I would also encourage the use of hook bonnets to further ensure that the hook points don't scratch the baits and to eliminate tangles.

.

Thanks Paul,

Those hook bonnets might be the answer although I could see them being used for a few weeks and the tossed aside out of convenience.

Anybody try the 3744 flipsider?

Looks like it may work quite well.

I store my jerkbaits in 3700 containers. Here are some of the open baits i have, i usually pickup a few colours and take 2-3 each depending on the condition.

They are Shimano boxes. They have been discontinued unfortunately.
They are awesome for organization but not so much for holding quantity as you can see.

Awesome for on the water though. No need for more than 18 jerkbaits. Lol.

We have between 50 and 60 jerk-baits. They all come with us when we go out fishing.
You never know when you might want to use that special jerk-bait purchased 4 years ago that has not yet seen the water. 8)

I found some of the shimano boxes but they are pretty pricey at close to $40 shipped. I might still grab 2 though.

I don't have many jerkbait but would like to get to about the 40 mark so teo of those cases would be plenty.

When I see numbers of 40-60 I start to wonder. When I see numbers like 300, I think that is crazy! But I did see your "show off your tackle box" CNDbasshunter, and I must say, that is an impressive setup.
