Do you have a store front or web site with some examples of your custom rods? What kind of blanks do you use?

:DCraig the website and store front are COMING SOON, I can send you some pics of the rods I have built so far, thanks for asking..

I use Lamiglas and MHX blanks for most of the rods I build. Any Lamiglas rod you can buy I can make a custom rod out of that blank. I have replaced all of my store bought rods with custom ones and the weight differnce is very noticeable.

I started using G. Loomis blanks until Shi*mano cancelled their blank program. This made a lot of enemies in the custom rod making world. Now if you have a custom made rod using a G.Loomis blank and you break it you get a Loomis made rod, not quite the same. I don't have much to say about Loomis now that Shi*mano is running them.
I have 5 custom made rods using G.Loomis blanks before the program was canned.

MHX is comparable to Loomis' IMX in fact the specs are identical and they are made in the states. I have a MBR 844 IMX Loomis and the MHX blank is identical. Put the two together and you can't tell the differnce except for the cost, the MHX sells for 20% less. I have made a few rods for customers this year and have orders for more. Show me a rod and I will be able to get a blank to mimic the action a then build it for you and customise it to your liking. I won a tournament this year and just this weekend placed 2nd using my Lamiglas XL 875 blank. It's an awesome pitchin stick I call the WEAPON.

I will soon be using North Fork Composites blanks, Gary Loomis' new blank company as Shi&mano won't let him use his name anymore, big lawsuit and Gary lost but he is still making first class blanks.

Don't be decieved by the quality of rods built in China these days, the profits just go to the rod company and not the retailer. Not trying to knock any one company but I don't see the sense in buying a $480 rod only to get rec guides part way up and not at the tip top. All my rods I build with rec guides I use a rec tip top. Once you build one you then see the quality or lack of it in other rods.

Read this interview with Gary Loomis and see how he views the industry to-day.
