Sturgeon Poaching

Didn't know this was going on. Since we're all on the water frequently it is something we can keep a look out for. Sturgeon is closed all year in Zone 12 and 18

Re: Composite prop for a Honda 25HP?

You can get the composite at Canada Propeller. I have one on my 75hp and love it. Your motor may run a bit different so you will have to play with the pitch. They let you keep trying blades until you get the performance you're after. I went from a 17 to a 19 pitch. Gave me better performance than my...

Re: check the fish on my screen

It can happen though. I had my shallow alarm go off in 85' of water. Shocked the hell out of me. A huge school of what I think was mooneye. Sonar couldn't penetrate it.

Re: Ticks

Saw an article on tick removal, soak the tick and a cotton ball with dish soap. Hold it on the tick and it will let go and become entangled in the cotton and you just lift it off.
Works on pets or if they are in your hair as you wont accidently pull any hair out.

Re: Trolling Motor vs Sonar - Battery Question

You'll get much more interference off your trolling motor than you will your gas motor. Wire it to your cranking motor. If you fish a lot with your electronics livewell pumps on and the big motor off, it might be wise to invest in a 27 or 29 series cranking battery, or, failing that, a set of boost...

Re: Which battery?!? Help!

Your trollong motor batteries are probably hooked up in parallel. This increases your amp hrs (longer run time) while keeping your voltage at 12 volts. It’s like having a bigger battery. Follow the instructions specific to your charger for hooking up to specific applications. Unless you're running a...

Me too! I find the foam can irritate the hands on a long day of fishing when they get hot, wet or sweaty. Love cork but like anything now days, it is a finite resource and demand will put it out of reach or make it too expensive.

Re: DIY Reel Service

Tia. If you've treated your reel properly you don't have to strip it down completely and start soaking all the parts, etc. Keep it simple and you won't have any issues. Only remove what you're comfortable removing. A toothbrush helps to clean around the worm gear and other hard to reach spots. Greas...

Re: Gar Season?

Minnow swim baits with a treble hook and stinger works well. With their hard mouth you snag them more than hook them in the mouth. Also you dont need a leader as their teeth are round and not serated. A good flouo is sufficient.
