Re: Buzz Bomb Lure ?

The best thing about this lure is it's weight and form. It is a good casting lure for salmon if you are shore fishing and want to get it as far out as possible where salmon be running. I imagine it is also a good lure for deep jigging...say where boat drift could be an issue. Beyond that I wouldn't ...

Re: Sunglasses for fishing advice for the rest of us? -/+ $5

Re: Cuba shore success! Read last post!

Cuba is the wild west of fishing. No regs nothing...unless you are fishing on private or public waters. If you do that you may end up in a Cuban jail. Rules on that change quickly so be very aware of who owns what rights and state park areas. Since there are no regs practically all of Cuba is fished...

Glad to hear you did well. You lucked out on the 80 pound mono leader. Had it's teeth gotten into that it would have sliced that in half. Saltwater fishing is a thrill, especially when there is snow back home!!

Re: Sunglasses for fishing advice for the rest of us? -/+ $5

I'm totally with you dude. When the driver is filming while driving you never know when stray trees may come right up and smack the car and bash threw a window or two. Best to go with the cheapest glasses one can find under such conditions!!

Re: Cuba shore/charter/tarpon fishing dec. 7

Inshore fish are generally a lot smaller so if you are more out on the ocean proper trolling then more line. The larger inshore ones fight more like very large pike and bass. Pick reels with a great drag. They don't have to be super capacity reels but don't bring your bass reels. With inshore you ne...

Re: Cuba shore/charter/tarpon fishing dec. 7

15 to 20 pound braided will do....for inshore. Mono is better around rocks and bridges. The larger inshore fish won't snap the line with a good drag but they can spool you. The rod sounds fine. You don't need large lures...anything silver with not much wobble should work. Fish everything faster. Cud...

Re: Cuba shore/charter/tarpon fishing dec. 7

I believe there is one decent charter in that region and if it is inshore chasing Tarpon it might be worth the dollars. If it is actual casting bring your own gear. You never know what they have and sometimes it substandard. That is a charter that I said is usually sold out. They usually have a &quo...

Re: Cuba shore/charter/tarpon fishing dec. 7

Not sure if you will be able to get guided Tarpon. If so try to book that first day and take any day with Tarpon and channels. Do not take a deep sea fishing charter. They are trying to shut down the DIY and resort fishing in this area but your resort sounds new. If you see no fishing signs, don't f...

Re: Cuba shore/charter/tarpon fishing dec. 7

Look up tube lures for Cuda...lots of fun shore fishing on the tide. Snapper will take spiked deer hair jigs. The Brits catch small bait and then put it under a float, they do well. A baitrunner reel with some capacity works for that. A few resorts in Cuba do have baby tarpon in the lagoons. It's al...

Re: Cuba shore/charter/tarpon fishing dec. 7

I hate to rain on your parade but a Spear gun? One guy got detained at the airport for a 4 hours for simply bringing a Bunsen burner cooker. He gave it up to get out of there. Now there are National Reserve Parks in that area and all wild life is protected with no fishing so good luck on explaining ...
