Wasn't far from you either...just the next lake west...lol
Still fighting hard...but too bad with the colder temps the acrobatics are little more subdued.

Re: Plan A, B and C
Nice footballs. The stable weather through the weekend had them on the bite. We connected with SMB on the drop shot too....minnow imitations in 25 to 40 fow. They were schooled up in tight packs...mark 'em, catch a bunch without moving. Got a couple of Walleye alongside them...but out of the slot. E...

Nice Gar !
Can't help you much with the river...I don't get out on the Ottawa very often. On the inland lakes, the Walleye have moved deeper. With the water temps in the low 50's, we should see the autumn turnover any day now.

Indian Lake Boat Ramp
I was hoping to get out on Indian Lake (Rideau system near Elgin) in the next couple of weeks. I usually launch at Indian Lake Marina & Campground, but I gave them a call today and they say they're closed for the season. Any suggestions for other launches still open that will get me out on that ...

Re: Fall season Bass Fishing
I'm no "guide" but can only go from my own experience of chasing Bass in North Frontenac for well over 50 years. My biggest Smallmouth of the year are almost always caught in October and well into November. I fished on the weekend, and on Friday the SMB were all over the place. Water was 6...

Re: Land of the Humpback Salmon
Yeah ... we usually fish the Superior tribs the first week in May. Beautiful scenery, the trout are in, and the blackflies aren't around yet. If you want some pointers just let me know.

Re: Land of the Humpback Salmon
We also hit some of the tribs north and east of the Soo on the return from our trip to Lac Seul last week. The Humpies are fun on light tackle...unfortunately, some of the locals seem to think the only way to catch them is snagging. Lauzon Creek looked like a butcher shop...not sure why, they don't ...

Re: First time dock/cottage owner
Do not leave your outboard tilted up in sub-freezing temperatures. Water is trapped in the motor....it needs to be down for the water to drain completely. As for when to give it up...I leave mine in the water sometimes into December...once fished on New Years Eve. As a rule of thumb...yes, a few con...

Re: Bobs lake
Yes there is a short navigable channel from Crow to Bobs. It's usually good until late September...then the lake levels drop. The Crow Lake launch is the nicest on the lakes, but parking can be a challenge. Yes, late summer finds the Walleye suspended over deep water...feeding on Cisco. You want to ...

Steeles Rd and Crow Lake Rd ramps are both open and free. You can also launch at Sunset Country Campground...$10 in, $10 out.

Re: Jim Zero ..... Muskies One!!
Thanks for sharing. Yeah, Musky fishing can be a real head scratcher on the best of days. We've stayed several times at Totem Point...great place with fantastic hosts. We also frequented Pine Cove Cottages just up the bay...which I think is now a Yoga Retreat of all things. Never targeted Musky much...
