Re: Muskrat Lake bass from a canoe

Thanks! Preferably either more fish or easier to find fish. I'm trying to show my girlfriend that fishing is actually fun! I found a spot in the Ottawa (we live downtown Ottawa) where she can pull out little quarter pounders over and over but nowhere that she can consistently find anything bigger a...

Re: Play in Shimano Curado 70XG Normal?

My 71XG has exactly zero play at all. It's rock solid and butter smooth.
I've tried pushing/pulling the handle as you described and could find no play anywhere.

Have you tried opening up the reel to ensure there's nothing loose?

Re: Round Lake

I'm heading to Bonnechere PP this weekend too! I'll bring a bit of my gear (as well as the kids' gear). No boat but we're going to try shore fishing in the river in and around the campground. I was on Round one year and caught a whack of small largies in the weedbed at the north end, but was only in...

Re: White Lake question

Came off of here today looking for eyes. 4 hours couple eaters but a boat load of sunfish. I've just moved here and have never seen these things until now and all I can say is this is the most annoying fish I have ever encountered. Great day with the wife and kids on the water though. Sunfish remin...

Re: Holding Pens

Actually I'll answer my own question based on the information on page-1 from CN: Assuming catch limit = 6 and possession limit = 6, then yes you'd have to go home, and come back another day to get the 2nd 6 fish for the freezer. Catch limit The number of fish you can catch and keep in a day. It incl...

Re: Holding Pens

A limit means you can not exceed the total catch limit of a species in a specific fishing zone. For example: I fish Zone 25 ( Ottawa River) -I catch my limit of 5 Walleye and keep my limit of 5 to bring home. -The same night I filet and eat 2 walleye, leaving 3 remaining in the freezer. -The next d...

Re: Used boat taxes?

You will "eventually" get a notice requesting you to tell them what you paid for the boat and they will expect their tax submission. I've gotten them twice for two different boats. One seemed to be around a year after the transaction, the other maybe 3 months. I'll just leave this little ...

Re: Fish behaviour in flood

The bite on Muskrat has been total crap for the past week or so as well. Water on Wed was above normal by at least a foot, and by Saturday AM it was 2' higher than that! We found bass super shallow (on peoples' lawns in their 'shoreline' trees at the bases). Winning bites came shallow but there were...

Re: Fluorocarbon leaders for bass

The only think I don't use straight braid for is dropshot (6' floro leader as it'll break before the braid mainline, meaning I can run the same braid mainline for years on end)... and crankbaits (I like the shock absorption of mono). I don't believe fluoro gets any deeper as the crank lip is what pu...
