I would not get a 12 footer for the Ottawa River. I have a 14 foot utility Misty River. When the winds pick up, the waves are brutal. And my boat is heavy duty, deep and wide. I would NEVER head out there in a 12 footer. I mean there are a lot of little bays that are quiet. Just remember though, you...

I usually do not go down there at this time of year. There is that big weed patch. My prop always gets clogged up. Maybe next spring I will venture in there. Is there a certain path around that mess?

Your taking your like in your hands revealing spots on here from what I have read in the past month. LOL! I have been in that area once. If I recall it was shallow with some big rocks. Am I wrong? The owner of the park said to fish there also. I will have to try again. Since we are sharing, I will r...

I think I saw you there. Were you fishing in the evening? I have a trailer at the park there. A couple of weeks ago a teenager caught a smallmouth fishing on the bridge. I swear it was about 6 pounds! I have caught 5 pound bass in the river before, and this was definitely bigger. I haven't seen a lo...

Ice Fishing Trailer

I know it is early. I came across this. Check it out. You can get an optional ice fishing door on the floor.

I am going into my third season camping at Sylvania Lodge on Dalhousie Lake. I have not heard of anyone catching an eel. If I do, I will certainly let you know. The last thing I need is to hook into one of those with my kids on board. I think my one son would jump overboard if that was squirming aro...

How did you manage to take that picture? I remember catching one as a teenager, right where the Ottawa meets the Gatineau, in a little bay. I thought I was snagged. Surprise! What a fight. That thing squirmed like crazy. I just cut the line. I wasn't touching that thing. LOL!

It has nothing to do with the price. It is just as a customer, you should be able to buy what the manufactuer recommends for your motor. I don't have a big horsepower motor, so I do not need that much. It would take me some time to use that much oil. I also asked for the engine cleaner like Seafoam ...

Buying Oil

So I go to the local Yamaha dealer in Aylmer(RMB), to buy a litre of 2 stroke Yamalube for my boat. To my surprise they don't have any. They have some 1 litres of 4 stroke oil. The guy, who seemed to be a manager says they don't carry the one litre anymore. But they will sell me the 4 litre for 30 d...

My friends had a trailer up there for years. They caught walleye to the right of Opeongo. If you go to the office there, they have a map of the lake, and the owner will show you some spots to fish. I have caught some decent pike in there. I remeber camping at Opeongo, and we had a few drinks in us. ...

You did not say what size of boat you have. That is another thing to be careful about. Lac Deschenes can be quite treacherous when the wind picks up. Always keep the wind speeds in mind. I don't like going out when the weather network says winds of 15 kms or more. I just find it is not very enjoyabl...

And don't stand in between the rear of the car and the boat trailer when your wife is driving and your pushing. :)
