Re: South Nation Muskie?

I'd just give the South Nation Conservation Authority a shout. They should be able to give you a definite answer, in particular which reaches hold muskie.

Re: Kingston ontario trout help

Unlike BC, there are not many local lakes where you'd use chironomids. In most cases they have much more sizable meals available. If you want to added some patterns to your box I'd suggest yellow winged Hamels Killers (#10) and some vampire leeches. If you don't already have one a portable fish find...

Re: Bass Pro No Go

Well if they put in a full blown Cabela's store great, but if the decide to put in anything that only offers what the Canadian Cabela's website is like I don't foresee them lasting very long.

Re: Gar Season?

While the "rope" lures are technically legal in Ontario, if you happen to break off, the gar is as good as dead as the rope lure will be permanently tangled in its mouth. A number of us prefer to use bunny strip lures with a #10 treble (de-barbed) well back. The thin diameter of the wire w...

Re: Dow's Lake

I usually give it about two weeks for all the dead plant material, etc to settle out and the bugs and baitfish activity to kick into high gear for the hungry pannies and slabs. I'm circling the Victoria Day weekend, but if the weather stays as warm as it has been it might just be sooner. ;-)

Can they transport it home? Short answer:...

Re: Scott SV908 3pc

Value-wise it's a tough call. A quick search came up with values from $125 - $350 US. Checking the Scott website, it would seem as though you have a discontinued model. I would simply give them a should to see if they even have a replacement section you could purchase. If a replacement section is ou...

Re: Oriole lake access - bogie

Given that Pembroke is still stocking the lake there has to be public access, though it doesn't have to be easy/convenient. If I recall the gate is on the hydro easement, and was put up to keep the road from being abused by 4x4s, etc. Just give the Pembroke office a shout and ask what the public acc...

Re: What do you do to fish in the fall?

I find in the fall when the water temps cool, crayfish will have hunkered down into their burrows for the winter. The SM will in turn focus on baitfish to put on winter weight. Baitfish patterns are my choice this time of year. The colder the water, the slower the presentation.
