Dang!!
All that info and I forgot the water depth....... .........Very turbid and from 4 to about 10 or 12 ft. Got most of the hits in the middle of the channell, so would be about 10 ft., possibly a bit less.

CATFISH (again)
 Went up to Fitzroy Harbour Prov. Park yesterday. Put the canoe in at their boat launch and fished mostly out in front of the launch, and the quiet bay which goes to the left. The Ottawa is in full flood with trees along the shore standing in about 3 ft. of water, and the current in the main r...

launch fees
That $15.00 launch fee does seem a tad high. Private enterprize at its best........gouge gouge. Last year they put up the launch fees to $90.00 from $75.00 per SEASON on our part of the Rideau. Thought that was high till I read these posts. Allows you to launch at Beveriges Locks, Combined Locks, Po...

 Wind from the South, bait goes past their mouth. Wind from the North, fools go forth. Wind from the East, fishins least. Wind from the West, fishens best. Not my rhyme, dont know where I heard it; but, every time I go out in a North wind and get skunked (often), I think of it. Gentle West win...

stocking walleye
I understand that some stocking was done in the Wesport section of the Rideau Lake a few years ago. Whether this was MNR or private club I don't know. It would be wonderful indeed, if stocking occured in the Rideau from the lake down to Burritts Rapids. Once upon a time there was a viable walleye fi...

fly fishing
Steve: Casting a streamer downstream and playing it in the current is definately fly fishing. Try this with a wooly bugger or muddler in Smallmouth water during bass season and hang on to your socks. Don't get discouraged with the casting. The only casts you see on fishing shows are the good ones. I...

poppers
When I first started bass fishing (just about the time of Moses), a family friend from Ohio used to take me and he used jitterbugs and poppers, and anything else Fred Arbogast made. So for many years I truly believed it was the ONLY way. Then I tried plastic worms, Texas rig, Carolina rig, Zara Spoo...

Hey Javelin: Try the web site: algonquinadventures.com. Lots of knowledgeable folks there, and most quite helpful. One who goes by the handle "Ken Klem" has fished just about every piece of water in there; and will give info. A lot of them went up for openers and so probably won't be back ...
