Re: Ice Reports 2016
Currently at Muskrat sitting over 70' of water under 9" of black ice. Not surprisingly, I'm not the only one out here today. Be safe out there.....

Re: Ice Reports 2016
Were the huts over 80-120 feet of water or are you talking about a shallow bay you are familiar with? I'm not familiar with any shallow bays on Muskrat..... :D  There were a couple in the bay by the launch and a couple of huts that looked to be on the dropoffs in the usual spots further up the...

Re: Small Lakes Near Pembroke/Petawawa
It's about a 10 min walk to the lake and most of it is uphill. It's a pretty popular lake so the trail will be well trodden.Farlane94 wrote:Ya we hit Lemke and only managed perch. May need to give Acorn a shot soon, how far of a walk would it be from the closest road??

Re: Cabelas or bps store?
If it is anything like the Cabelas in Barrie it will be very underwhelming. Plus Paddletales>Cabelas!!!!! Brian This..... As a fisherman, I was very disappointed in the Barrie Cabelas and if the Ottawa store is anything like it there will be only one visit and it will be a short visit. That said, i...

Re: Small Lakes Near Pembroke/Petawawa
Lemke is probably fished out already! Acorn and Beechnut are the closest stocked brookie lakes. Be aware that no live minnows allowed on Acorn and the MNR goes to both lakes regularly. Acorn is accessible with a vehicle and a bit of a slog through the woods. Beechnut is harder to get to. Proba...

Re: Ice Reports 2016
There were a few portable huts out on Muskrat yesterday and some ATV and snowmo tracks close to the shorelines.

Re: Name the Fishing Clubs and Competitive series in Eastern
Thanks Doug. I knew about Valley Bass but see nothing anywhere online. RJ Valley Bass has an FB presence at https://www.facebook.com/groups/64191693812/. I'm not sure what's going on with VB this year but it's historically been a closed club of 20-30 teams (much like BAA appears to be) and the tour...

Re: 2016 Fishing Goals??
Once again I'll be looking to land that elusive 5 lb smallie from somewhere other than the St Lawrence or Lake Ontario. There were six of them put in my boat this year and none of them were hooked by me.....

Re: Name the Fishing Clubs and Competitive series in Eastern
Anything missing? Petawawa Bassmasters (https://www.facebook.com/petawawabassmasters/) Other than Shootout Series, PBM hosts more open tournaments than any other organization in Eastern Ontario. There are 7 open tournaments this year, including a one-man and a 2-day tournament. Each open tournament...

So very cool you got to do this! I would like do the same one day. How did you sign up? The marshal program is open to all BASS members. Register through https://ssl.palmcoastd.com/ows-img/57000/marshal.html . If you are a BASS Nation member, then you get to register a week earlier than non-Nation ...

You bet. This was the 2nd time I've done the marshal thing. Nothing planned for next year but I'm thinking about making a run to Bull Shoals next April.RJ wrote:Planning to go again?RJ
