Welcome to the forums Dave. Pretty quiet here for the most part except for the Shirley's Bay ice fishing threads each year.
Cheers

Re: Bark Lake/Kaminiskeg
So looking at the Avionics chart the only spot I see that would qualify as a sunken island is that hump I highlighted near the top end of the lake. From what I understand that top end of the lake is where the better Walleye fishing is. Cheers

Re: Lanark/Kayak/Trout
Thanks for the info. Smitty: Would Peterwhite hike in be manageable with a kayak on a dolly? For Kate's and Duncs, it looks like the walking trail is of Darling 6th C.? Parking available? I really have no idea what that trail up the powerline would be like anymore. I know that trail gets a lot of a...

Re: Lanark/Kayak/Trout
It depends how long you're willing to drag your yak. There is a trail into Kates and Duncs, but you're looking at a good 2k walk. Peterwhite is certainly a shorter tour but it depends how wet those two trails off the powerline road are. The first one looks dryer.

Re: Bylaw on fishing from shore within the city of Ottawa
If it's true it would have to be something new, but I highly doubt it. People have been fishing from shore on the Ottawa and Rideau in the city forever.

Re: Looking for a bass fly
Thanks, Smitty! If I can't find it from a Canadian retailer I will have to order $50+ to get the free shipping :D That's only 8 or 9 of them, you won't have to worry about running out for a while then. On the other hand, one of the mods at OFC has really gotten into tying flies and grubs to the poi...

Re: Spring Time Walleye ...... let's see them!!!
Jim, by slow roll I take it you mean a slow death hook that spins around.Or is that just another name for them, there's not much online about slow roll. That means it's spinning the trebles as well, hence the need for that swivel above the treble. Or does the treble restrict the spin of the offset h...

Re: Bullhead/mudpout
I would suggest you try off the command bridge or the shoreline there. It's only 5 minutes away on the Galbraith rd. I know some guys that were around there last weekend and did ok, bite didn't start till dark.

Re: Stocked Trout Fishing
I'd love to know as well! Trying to find brookies! Tried Indian Creek near Pakenham, which is apparently stocked, but the creek seemed devoid of life (at this time anyway). Even went upriver on a SUP, away from the bridge, and got absolutely nothing. Tried flies, streamers, nymphs, spoons and worms...

Re: Looking for fishing spots and tips
There's a couple of shore fishing maps that were done up in the past but they are all in Ontario. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1bCp6LJop3XTVlbcbzXgFAHkcrNA&ll=45.22212534837442%2C-76.0304941910755&z=10 https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?msa=0&ll=45.266044018880244%2C-75...

Re: Spring Crappie in Ottawa Area
I'll add one more thing pertaining to the Rideau for you. This applies to early season mostly but at some of those feeder creeks the Crappie don't move in from the main river until almost sunset and then you'll get a short run lasting under an hour. So even if its quiet where you are be sure to stic...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2023 Ice season
They will sometimes even spawn under the ice but right now they will be staging just outside the lagoon in the back along those far shorelines. You want to be fishing in shallow waters close to shore with huge baits as the Pike try and corral baitfish schools against the shorelines. Do you mean the...
