Re: Redhorse, pannies, and trout.

Good going Cyrus. You do well with the redhorse.
Tough fish to figure out imo.
Curious too if that last one is a shorthead or greater.

Re: A greasy start to the soft water season!!

Thanks folks!! Smitty a lot has definitely changed in the lake over the last 20 years. Zebra muscles and Gobies. :-) Brent, interesting point. Never heard that before. Where did you hear or read that about the Gobies? It was mentioned on an Ifishigan show on WFN. Lakers in lake Michigan appear heal...

Good going !

The gobies in their diet is meant to be making the lakers more colourful, believe it or not.

Lake Ontario isn't too far away and has excellent trout and salmon fishing.
Something to consider.

Re: Lake Trout Action After Dark or Before Daylight

Think lakers are mainly sight feeders, like pike, yellow perch and smallmouth bass, and
you will only catch them at night every other full moon or so.

Re: Shadalicious Swimbaits - The Love-Hate Relationship

The most durable swimbait I have used are probably X-zone swammers, if you can still find them. Z-man baits have a more durable soft plastic ... Elaztech ... might be worth a try, say a PaddlerZ. I too find the soft ones get bit more, like the hollow bellies ( Yum money minnow, shadalicious, grasspi...

Re: Bassmaster Classic Coverage...

There's a " Live" feed on the bassmaster web site too.

http://www.bassmaster.com/video/bassmaster-classic-live

It's meant to be better than the FLW coverage, but presently I'm unsure about that.

Actually it's getting better, not cutting out as much and great coverage.

Re: Palmerston Lake

Palmerston is in Division 18 and not listed in the exceptions for lake trout as open all year.
See page 96

There's angling opps for lakers and splake nearby though.

Re: a splake type of report!

Great looking fish, must have been a hoot ! Awesome fishing Marty!! That's a great day. As for people thinking these are lake trout, please read up on F1 splake back-crossed with lake trout in Ontario. Result are 75% laker, 25% brookie, but still splake. And they look exactly like Marty's fine Splak...
