Regarding ice thickness, we set up our hut yesterday 12x8 big wood coloured hut - There is 5-6"s of ice were we are located.... That said, I dropped a couple of lines and ended up with a couple small sauger and a nice 3.5lbs walleye.... :D Cheers and good fishing. CCLad. Sounds like a sweet se...

Nice fish

The sky isn't falling. Nor was that the intent of this post.
But we won't have safe ice for some time.

The positive temps and rain this weekend isn't going to help and there is still a lot of open water out there.

Risking safety for a possible fish = Not worth it.

Be safe was all.

After all

Its only fish!

Everyone will have plenty of time to safely use their flasher and auger....

Relax! Go do something else till the ice really freezes.

I'd like to add that this season I would love to go off the beaten path and nail some specks and splake (2 fish I have NEVER caught).

Environment Canada says today will be the coldest day all week.
Starting tomorrow the daily highs will be around -2c

Fish more.

Spend time fishing with family and friends and to get out with new people and LEARN.

No ego, no spot revealing etc.

Just time out enjoying it.

If PBs occur great. If not, still time well spent.
