Anyone launched from the Appleton launch recently?

Any of you lads put in from the launch in Appleton just below the dam? I was wondering how good the water levels were there for launching these days. I've kayaked there in past years, but never launched a boat there.

Thanks,

Chris

I feel very fortunate for having the assistance of a long-time friend who is a veteran fisherman and mechanic. He has put a number of transducers on boats over the years. I wired the transducer cable and after setting the bracket over 15" away from the prop, and away from any hull structure, I ...

I saw said receptacle at George's Marina when I dropped in to take a look at one of their jonboats.

Source for fuel tanks?

I've been on the 'net looking for a local Ottawa source for boat fuel tanks. My current tank is too small, as I've found my 2-stroke chomps through the gas pretty fast. So, I'm looking for a larger tank, something like a 12 gal tank. Any suggestions for local sources? Canadian Tire doesn't have them...

My buddy suggested an angled stainless plate over the transducer to cut the rooster tail, but that may present problems of its own. I don't find the issue to be a big problem, I think its likely the fact that the transducer is just under the water level instead of being at the water level that cause...

For what its worth, I got a Garmin Nuvi that's a crossover GPS; it can be used for driving in cities, then switched over to boating. I bought the Garmin Inland Lakes Ontario fishing chip, and while it certainly should not be relied upon for navigation, it does give a lake map with general depth info...

Transducer installed (semi) quick report

Had a friend of mine who has put in a few transducers on aluminum boats in his day, come by and give me a hand with the final aspects of installing the transducer on the hull of my new/used 14' Lowe. I had initially thought of using a clamp-on transducer holder, but was advised that they do not perf...

Trolling motor suggestions?

I'm looking for a bow-mounted trolling motor, for a 14' aluminum Lowe fishing boat. I'll be wiring in a second battery, which will be dedicated to the trolling motor. The wiring and plug-in for a trolling motor are already installed in the bow. I've narrowed it down to a Minn Kota V2 Powerdrive, 45&...

Just watched the CBC report, well done on getting the local media involved in the event. I expect you'll get the complete runaround from every level of government from here on in. I imagine the "fix" will be warning signs stating that you launch at your own risk......

I contacted the MNR about the confusing array of guidelines concerning fish santuaries in Zone 18, and was eventually met with a reply more complicated than programming a VCR in the dark. Not the most user-friendly government monolith, but then, which one of them are friendly....anyways, the second ...

Absolutely, and since Transom Saver does just that, its a valid idea and just a matter of finding a glue that is proven for years of marine exposure.

And ALWAYS REMEMBER, Fishing is Healing. It's a 'sport" that gets down into your soul and provides the most relaxation that can be had without drinking beer or using some sort of anxiety drug. Fishing is a totallly healthy thing that really can get rid of the stress of a week at work,at a job ...
