Many of us have heard the old adage that "90% of the fish are in 10% of the water". Picking up on Sheldon's idea, I personally would be interested in learning more about how a proficient walleye angler can eliminate the dead water on a new lake in order to key in on the most likely walleye...

RJ: Probably the most informative response is to recommend you read the thread (particularly posts by GBS and yarcraft91) http://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147739&page=2 Some guys have been sending their units back to Lowrance requesting analysis or replacement. On 27 Oct 08,...

Lowrance sonar difficulties in shallow water?

I've been following the recent threads on walleyecentral.com about the difficulties some Lowrance sonar owners (500 series, LCX27/28/37/38 and even some LCX 112s) are experiencing regarding no depth readings or digital depth flashing in shallow water or in shallow water with a lot of weeds. Brian: Glad to hear that you and Bill had such a great trip. Sorry that I was unable to make it. Too bad about that "fish of a lifetime" - you'll get another chance next year. Bill mentioned that the road wasn't in the best shape due to the heavy rains. I'll keep a lookout for some pictures.

Thanks for the info Mossman. I fished Baie du Nord in Aug 05 with McQ (out of Nemio's) and will fish there again with McQ in Aug this year.

Hey Mossman

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you enjoyed the opener. I presume you flew in with Air Melançon. How were the accomodations and the boats and motors? Did you fish Baie du Nord exclusively or did you fish Lac Bureau as well? Thanks in advance.

I purchased a non mapping Garmin 76 six years ago and have been satisfied with it. Garmin GPS units are easy to learn to operate. I purchased mine from Prairie Geomatics - see http://www.prairie.mb.ca/index.php in Manitoba due to good pricing. They're selling the Etrex Legend HCx at $229 according t...

Hello: While I have lived in Orleans for over 40 years, I've done 95% of my trout fishing in western Quebec, mostly for speckled trout (moucheté) and lake trout (grise). In my opinion, one of the spinning best lures for these trout in western Quebec is an EGB in the 204 pattern - see http://www.egb...
