Re: First Musky in a LONG time...
The hardcore musky heads would frown on that picture/lip gripper I'm guessing. Nice fish none the less, I don't fish musky much but bigger pike/musky should be held by tail and supported under the belly from what I have been told, correct me if I'm wrong? I would say as long as you didn't hold it in...

Re: Peterwhite Lake
Troutskill, I'm sorry but you are evidently reading the map incorrectly. The hydro corridor is clearly on private and, not crown land. The reason I searched Fish-Hawk before posting my note was that I distinctly recall reading a post in here that the owner of the land routinely checks for trespasse...

Re: Peterwhite Lake
As you can see from the map you posted using the maps legend, there is private land on the one side but the other area is classified as general use, where the hydro line passes it is crown land. I fish the lake most winters and have never had an issue. Majority of lakes in calabogie and ompah are st...

Just out of pure curiosity... 60+ you say??? Please provide full GPS coordinates so I can... um... verify your story    60 is a regular sight we have seen 100-150 bird flocks in farmers fields in the area we live. They also eat the sunflower seeds that fall under our feed...

Re: Turkey Recovery!!!
Glad to hear there coming back strong always nice to see.
There seems to be an overwhelming amount of turkeys around our place this summer, have seen big flocks 60+ in the back fields multiple times. Turkey will have to wait until spring for me as I'm getting ready for deer and bow season.
Cheers,

Re: First Year Hunting
Good advice from out4trout some of the same points I was going to mention he covered. Look at marshy areas, riverbanks, small ponds etc.... Ompah there's not much, most of the easily accessible lakes have campsites that are used until November, some of the more remote lakes you could try I guess if y...

Not sure on how the fishing is on that stretch....I know that camping is not allowed at the city park, you could probably get away with it I'm sure if you wanted to.

Re: hit a deer
I agree with Markus 100%! Although the OPP are aware you should follow the proper procedure and notify MNR. Like mentioned its for herd counts and other data they keep track of , no trouble will come out of it.
Glad you were able to get the meat to the freezer, enjoy!

Re: Heads up around the Madawaska (Theft)
That's a great idea. Keep in mind that no matter what you do, thieves will figure out a way to take what they want. All you are doing is slowing them down from taking what they want. Tack welds on the bolts would mean they could still cut the u bolt, but at least it would slow them down to the poin...

Can't beat a big white tube jig or some rapala jigs, either will catch you fish.

Re: Heads up around the Madawaska (Theft)
If its a tongue jack on your trailer with large U-bolts holding it on just put a tack weld on each nut that way it can't be unbolted. We had to do this exact thing at work, came in after a long weekend and 10-12 of the work trucks were missing there backracks, quick tack weld fixed the thieving issue.
