Re: looking for cottage

Here is a link that I use but there are several others. Google cottages for rent on the rideau lakes or any other region you are interested in.

Re: Wellington & Browns - April 12,2014

Well done David. We were out as well fished east and managed 1 laker and no browns. Still it was nice to be on soft water and it brought back memories of the early 90's when we used to slam the lakers there in the shallow water!

Re: What knot to use to tie braid to mono?

I used to use the uni to uni but I have had the knots break on me on more than one occasion. I started using the Foran knot two years ago and have never had a problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhC4qt5JpWA

Re: Ice Fishing - Augers

I am surprised by the lack of Strikemaster advocates! I have the Strikemaster strike lite 4. No mixing oil, starts first or second pull everytime, cuts like butter, and if you do a lot of walking on the ice you will love the 10lbs less weight you are carrying! They are expensive but keep your eye on...

Very nice RJ. They did my walleye for me a few years ago and I was thrilled as well. I have the same wood background.

I can't say if the thermal is worth the extra money or not but I have no problem keeping my Fish Trap Pro or Base Camp warm with a Mr. Buddy and neither of them are the thermal models. The only down side with getting the Nanook is the extra weight for pulling it around. If you are going to do a lot ...

It is 5.15 lbs not 5lbs 15oz, it must be a typo on the 4 fish. Regardless, there are some impressive weights there.

I run two trojan's on my Minnkota 74lb maxum. If you look at the reserve minutes on them they are the highest rated I have seen. I think I paid around $220 each at Total battery.

Deep cycle batteries should be charged as soon after use as possible. They do not develop a memory.

I stayed at Melody Lodge on Cranberry Lake last year. It is part of the Rideau system north of Kingston. The fishing was good for bass and pike and I beleive they have an American plan.
