If I'm downtown its always on me. Too many 'opportunists' around. I keep it light, only plastics, hooks, a few spinners and beer....er...water.....
You get used to casting with it on. I also use 4lb test, so the line really goes without too much effort.

I'm in!
Now I have some motivation to get my butt in gear and patch my boat!
Head over to Maclaurin Bay, heard that's where all the big bass hide....

Not monsters, but my PB's so far this summer...
So I'm a trout fisherman and was recently invited to my Aunt and Uncle's cottage in the Pontiac. I thought 'awesome! Trout country!' and packed all my trout gear, ready to get some specks and bows. Unfortunately, due to the natural ebb and flow of the eco-system on their lake and the surrounding lak...

Re: new boat advice...kind of
I have a friend who fishes out of Petrie island, he parks his boat there on a trailer launches it either with his parents SUV or mine :). They have a fenced marina and lots of people keep boats on shore there. One thing about keeping your boat at the dock - you have to account for rain and weather. ...

Re: Millers Lake
In the same area I'd suggest Crotch Lake.
Or if you want an easier lake to fish, Sharbot on the other side of Hwy 7. Lots of bays, channels, drop-offs and weed beds to hit.

Re: sketchy characters
White Bucket Brigade <---- At first I was like, 'wtf does he mean?' THEN i recalled the common scene usually found at Kilmernock on Saturdays. I've been straight up propositioned by an older man at the bottom of Hogs Back. It really creeps me out, because I'm on the skinny side and its not like you ...

Re: Can't fish the Rideau falls from shore?
there's a spot you can squeeze through, but I had all my tackle with me and my 'nice' rod...didn't want to risk loosing it all or something if I got caught.

Can't fish the Rideau falls from shore?
So I was around the Rideau Falls area last night, thinking I could walk to the bottom where it pours into the Ottawa and wet my line - apparently not! Since when did they fence it all off? I saw the hole in the fence down the delivery road to the now-closed NCC pavilion there....but I mean really gu...

Re: Petrie Island
@ Jimmy - those fish are friggin' ugly. But if I do get one, I'll take a pic, just for you. I think that is one of the few species native to Ontario that I haven't caught yet. That and an eel. I think I could go without both lol.

Petrie Island
Thinking of heading down to Petrie after work and dropping the sportspal in for a little fishing. I was thinking of fishing the channel that runs to the south of the island and then maybe meandering into the smaller channels that that branch off of it. Am I wasting my time fishing around there? I've...

East-end boat launch locations
Hello all, Can someone recommend a free launch on the Ottawa River near Orleans? I have to water-test 2 engines tonight and was looking for somewhere out of the wind / current that I could launch my boat and then come back and switch engines. I've used the one at the end of Blair road, but it launch...
