Re: Where can I get Auger blades sharpened
I used to pass my sharpener( they used to be a sponsor of sort for F-H) You could buy those sharpeners at CTC. They had an orange handle on them. I used to gently remove the small burr on the sharpened edge of the blades and they would come back to original (or very close to it) The Speedy Sharp ht...

Re: Where can I get Auger blades sharpened
My friend is a machinist, and he is taking them to his shop to resharpen them! I will be most interested to hear how they turn out! I was thinking again about this query, and remembered writing to Normark back probably in the 80s to see if they would sharpen their own blades. The response I got bac...

Re: Where can I get Auger blades sharpened
They sell a sharpener on Amazon although I have never tried it, I may be trying it out as the price of blades have gone through the roof. If I do try it out I will let you know how it goes. Cheers if that is the hand-held thing with plastic handles you may as well save your money (and your time)......

Re: Where can I get Auger blades sharpened
In general, hand auger blades do not sharpen very well. And if you don't get the angle EXACTLY right, you will just end up polishing the ice. I have sharpened blades that I most certainly could have shaved with, but they were useless for drilling ice holes. So I generally buy a new set of blades whe...

Re: BEACHING BIG BULLY SHARKS. Report.
AMAZING!!!!
Not my cup of tea, as you would expect from a hard-core panfish guy, although I still want to catch a halibut. Like the size of those SHARKS!!!! But without the teeth and not sleeping at night...........
Hard water soon I hope.

Re: Wolfe Lake, Westport
You should already be acquainted with Roger and Connie Norris at Norris Bait and Tackle. If not, you should haul yourself down there and introduce yourself. You are not going to get "SECRETS" but you will get solid information from people who have lived and fished there for decades. They a...

Re: A SLAVE GUIDE'S STORY.
Back to Bunk.............Yes indeed I have been hunting pretty hard all fall. I had a spectacular goose hunt before Thanksgiving, and have been in the woods pretty much since then for moose, bear and deer. Lucky I put some goose meat in the freezer, it has been track soup so far on the big game. :ro...

Re: Bear Season 2015
Smitty, we've run out of shelf space at the camp. i took her skull in today and added it to the group. There's 2 additional ones up to the right.....so we need to remodel our skull display area. We've come up with a plan that should look pretty neat and we're looking to work on that next week. Thes...

Re: Bear Season 2015
Thanks for that, Markus. I knew about the trapping but did not know you could (legally) snare bears. And of course, here in Ontario they would string you up by your parts if they caught you selling the gall bladder out of your (legally shot) bear. By law, you have to leave it with the gut pile. And ...
