As an update, a buddy of mine has advised me that the mount seen above doesn't hold steady at speed, and can only be used effectively at trolling speeds. Nor do suction cup mounts hold on beyond trolling/slower speeds I'm told. So, one choice is to go with a Transom Saver, which is a mount that is g...

Mounting fish finder transducer without drilling

I'm looking to get a fishfinder for my new boat. I can mount the display unit at the console. If I drill a hole large enough for the power and transducer cables, I can run them through the console and as out-of-the-way as possible on the way back to the trasnsom. The power can be hooked I believe di...

Thanks for the info gents. Roger that MLR, about the ease of one-man use with the smaller boat. Since it'll be just me most days, the smaller boat would be easier to launch and recover I figure. I'll be keeping it to smaller lakes and rivers, but your point about the whitecaps is well taken, because...

Opinions on my new (to me) boat

Hello all: I finally got my boat, after much searching, a 2001 Lowe Sea Nymph, AN140S with a power tilt 35 HP Johnson 2 stroke. I bought it from a colleague at work who was the original owner, bought from G&G Lalonde Small Engines in Orleans (no longer in business I believe). The vendor reckons ...

What can I say, the 3 of you are right. I am just bummed at how much gas I burn up trying to get to the blinking lakes, that I dont actually make it to...lol, its kinda comical. The QC license is a must I agree. Thanks guys. I know how you feel. I've spent a full day driving around a lake trying to...

Here's the MNR regulations for Zone 18, 2010:

http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/mnr_e001337.pdf

The exceptions/exclusions and fishing sanctuaries are spelled out on the second and thrid pages for Mississippi River. Galetta and Mohr's Road are in Zone 18. Hope this helps.

I was at Petrie Island today, just south of Ozziles, on the bay on the east side. I worked the area for cats with worms, nothing from 0900-1200.

C'est la guerre, next time.

Best,

Chris

The only sanctuary on the Mississippi River in Zone 18 that is even near Galetta as per the 2010 regs is from the upstream side of the 5 span bridge in Pakenham back upstream to the falls in Almonte. QED, this means the dam in Galetta is not a sanctuary as I read it. The other two areas on the Missi...
