Re: Arming for the Musky hunt
Here's a suggestion. Muskies Canada is holding its Muskie Odyssey on April 25 in St Catharines. If you can make it that's the place to go for baits. MCI has amazing bait and terminal tackle makers. In 2014 Outdoor Canada magazine had Mike Parkers Handlebarz musky lures tied for 5th place with paul d...

Re: Spinning Reel Maintenance
Just did a dozen. The lighter the oil the more often you will have to service the reel. Spinning reels are not like baitcasters. The bearings are not involved with casting (i.e. Spool and worm gear) so it basically comes down to preference to use grease or oil. I use Reel-X and Ardent reel and beari...

Re: Fishing in Punta Cana
There are numerous medications for sea sickness. The trick is to start taking it at least 24 hrs before you go out. Also, have something with ginger on hand. It is amazing at settling your stomach, though I don't think it would go good with rum.

Mudpuppies are those big salamanders with gills that we often pull up through our ice fishing holes this time of year. Report your sightings to the Ontario Reptile ...

Re: Loch Garry fishing
There was a huge die off on this lake due to a milfoil explosion and a bad winter a few years back. There was a big muskie die off and the milfoil explosion has ruined the water quality. This is the only source of water for the town of Alexandria so it is a big issue. You may want to hold off buying...

In 22 years I've been down close to the handles twice with my 10 inch Jiffy. You won't need one here. Reminds me of a funny story. While in the military I did six trips to Canadian forces Station Alert which is on the northern tip of Ellesmere Island. When people left the station they had to report ...

Re: Bite time for Crappie?
Only targeted them through the ice a few times with minimal luck. Tend to get lazy in the winter and don't get out at first light so thought I may have been missing the bite. I fish the Ottawa.
