you can buy them on the east coast for jigging cod. i have a few in my tackle box. not something you can really use in ontario though. actually not at all.

no bait that i could see. as for oxygen levels... just 200 yards upsteam is a small set of rapids and a mile upsteam is a huge dam with large outflow. can't imagine that the O2 level would be low. you'd think that the areation alone would diffuse enough oxy into the system.

weird catfish behavior?

when i was out on Sunday i noticed the catfish were biting really slow on bottom in my normal hole. i moved a bit upstream and fished there for awhile. after the wind died out and the river turned to glass i noticed a lot of small surfaces on top of the water where i had been fishing. i stepped back...

sorry no pics, but i just had to post about the experience this weekend. we headed out to dunnville yesterday for some cats. we did "okay". pretty small ones but we are frying them up for supper tonight. my 6 year old boy's first experience actually catching fish came about 1/2 way through...

depends what you are fishing for. there are tonnes of carp to be be had in the Avon. i know there lots of bass there too. (just not in season yet)

if you are looking for trout then the suggested would be the alternative.

BTW what colour is the Avon right now? clear or muddy?

i think i should be lookin' for something new as well. my sony 2.1M just ain't cuttinit anymore. bloody technology! i can get a waterproof camera with double the pix that mine has for the same money i paid for mine 3 years ago.
