Re: early reservations at algonquin park: where to fish?
I checked the stocking list. They stocked alot of small lakes near whitefish and rock lake for example, coon lake. They stocked that lake with 3000 speckled trout in 2016. should i shore fish for them or do i need a boat? Also, my only trout lure that i have is a blue fox vibrax. is there any bette...

Re: Beginner Tips
Well, depends on the fish you want to catch but assuming local shore fishing, rivers, lakes for bass, pike, walleye, panfish - your first rod/reel will be a 6 or 7 ft medium action spinning rod and some reasonable reel (Shimano or Abu). Buying a combo would be ok up to about 100bucks would do it. Mo...

Re: early reservations at algonquin park: where to fish?
Check your dates against the fishing regs. Mid may - only trout would be open. Forget pike, most lakes don't have pike and bass season won't be open until summer. If you want to car camp, super easy and you can fish the hwy 60 corridor lakes - see the stocking lists - but no portaging and easy acces...

Re: Got a question? Let's hear it!
I would fish the neck down areas, narrows, and points - when filling or emptying there will be more current in those areas. Given the change is in one day, could be good current in some areas. Walleye and sm bass will set up on current or seem to get active then. Seen this at Morris island @ Chats f...

Re: Fishing with my boy
Brings back the happy memories when I fished with my little kids (now adults). I like the mandatory juice box in your pic... can't go fishing without them (or cookies, chips, cheese sticks ... )
You will have a fishing buddy for life. Congrats !

Re: Trout fishing
Well, depends on what kind of trout. Here are some well known places but I can't comment on water levels --- could be very low in some places. anyhow ... So, lakers - down riggers or jigging - Big Rideau, Charleston, Muskrat -- all close - but you need a boat. Downriggers are good but you can jig th...

Re: Can Lake Trout be caught on trout-nuggets, trout paste?
I've never tried those baits but that doesn't stop me from having an opinion  :D ... I'm gonna go with no just because I thought those kinds of baits are all about mimicking eggs or the trout food used in hatcheries so trying them deep down on native lake trout seems unlikely but hey, you neve...

Re: Johnston and lac Bernard near low Quebec
We rented on bernard a few years back (7?) We found very good Smallmouth fishing. I was told about the pike too but only saw one pike all week. Got some nice smallies right off the dock every morning...

Regs here - > http://files.ontario.ca/environment-and-energy/fishing/2016/2016_Fishing_FMZ_15_English.pdf Fish the creek below tea lake dam. You can also bushwack and find hard to access sections all along the creek from there on for miles to the end of the park. Can be hard work, but you can find a...

Out with my daughter as a fathers day gift. She reads book, I fish. Fair trade with dinner after. Solid afternoon. Got this one and a few more about the same size. Bunches of smaller bass too. Mainly shallow on small jigs. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-3xVfiK2mIcM/VYhSs1EAH6I/AAAAAAABBTY/j0036a...

Re: First trouting outing !!
Nice fish. Too windy to jig so trolling has been my deal past two weekends. I should have tried jigging anyhow. Anyhow, downriggers were firing at 70 ft - last couple weekend if anyone wants a place to start. Lots of hooks @ 40, 50 in 100+ FoW but they wouldn't touch me, probably too imprecise with ...

Re: Downrigger advice
40 feet back if your rigger is down 30-50 ft 20 feet back if any deeper. I run 80-120 ft down, 20 ft back in summer. Drop the line in side of the boat, check the action and then clip to rigger and let it down. Note - If your line is too far back, you need to be careful as the lure goes deeper than t...

Re: Rideau Shore Fishing
RR 44 where Donnelly dr crosses the Rideau, north side of river seems to have access under the bridge. I've had shore fishermen out fish me while I float in my boat there... I've also seen it the other way too :) Walleye hang under the bridge piers - I'd say big casts required from shore ... bass fo...

Re: What would you do?
I do a lot of back lake canoe fishing and always wanted a more comfortable small boat. Equipment --- get an electric for sure. not sure you can get solar chargers that push sufficient amps but you can charge off the vehicle when changing spots and really extend your weekend. Do it as soon as you get...
