Re: Bear Season @ the HellBear

The long awaited auction arrived yesterday and 9 of our 10 hides we submitted sold. They held back our best graded hide. They wanted more for it and the bids werent high enough I guess. Hopefully they sell it by the end of the auction....or it'll be offered again in the summer auction. It's always a...

Re: Food Plot TLC

Mineral sites are great for scouting, but we never hunt over them. We may add an apple pile near by if we have a hit list buck on the mineral, but more times then not....the summer bucks move into the rut cycle and disappear from their summer haunts.

Re: Food Plot TLC

We also had time to set up one of our faithful mineral sites. This site is an old softwood dead fall that we soak Rack Stacker mineral powder into the rotting wood. Over the years, the dear have eaten about 15 feet of this tree. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm180/camphellbear/18195105_10158771...

Looking at the rounded fins...are they tank fish stocked into a system? Perfect eating size and it looks like you're enjoying a good meal of them.

Food Plot TLC

It's been 5 years since we put our food plot in. 2 seasons ago, my camp partner worked in a load of composted horse manure and even though it helped improve the organic matter in the soil, it was full of weed seed...so the timothy seed in it crowded out our clover and forced us to give the plot some...

Re: Dusting off the salmon baits

That yozuri was right out of the package....first time in the water. If we were targeting coho's specifically, i'd run your go to set for sure...thats a killer set up. But we were looking for kings, just could get on them that trip. I'm a big fan of the vacuum sealer as well. I dont do my deer or be...

I wouldnt be opposed to that either. We use a fish compost at home now from a friends weir that processes fish.

I wish I knew someone that enjoyed eating carp. I've always wanted to give it a try as well, but I dont have anywhere to go with the fish.

Dusting off the salmon baits

My buddy and I decided to try the Lake Ontario salmon/trout this morning for a few hours. We had a late 8am start, so we knew we'd miss the first light flurry....but we werent expecting the whole morning to be a slow bite. We launched out of Jordan with about 20 other boats. http://i296.photobucket....
