Re: Clam drill auger conversion kit
I read about the torque device for the electric drills but I was cheap and just went 18v. Boy was I surprised how well it works. With the torque thingy it must go through like butter.
I'll be using my 18v again this season for sure. I always bring the original auger handle just in case.

Re: Shirleys Hardwater Decline
On Dec. 23rd I stopped by Shirley's to have a peak. Small ice hut village forming. All pop ups from what I could tell. Looked like about 8 or 10 groups out there. No vehicles of course. But soon.

Re: Clam drill auger conversion kit
I have a 6 inch auger and use it with a Rigid 18v. Works like a charm.
What I find though is if it's cold, punch a bunch of holes right away. Seems I get some power loss when batteries are cold. Even if I switch to a fresh battery. But on arrival I punch 6 or 8 holes in a row without issue.

Re: Tips on Fishing Pigeon Lake
I've caught many muskie in Pigeon over the last 20+ years. You have many options. I only fished the opener this year on Buckhorn and it was tough. The rain, water levels etc have affected fishing. I'm not sure about now or next week but I'd go with what has worked in the past for me: Casting - I'm u...

Re: Procedure with OOS fish
Something else about the term "immediately" in the regs. and photos. "Immediately" is the word used for both OOS catches and catches that do not meet legal size limits. This would mean fish too small or within a slot limit. This by the purest definition of the word and the way so...

Re: Procedure with OOS fish
It doesn't matter how big the fish is, you are not allowed to take pictures of it. As soon as you notice it's OOS it's not hard to let slack in the line. Most of the time the fish will spit the hook right away. Or if hooked with mupltiple hooks there's no reason the fish needs to be out of the wate...

Re: Procedure with OOS fish
For my OOS catches,.. If possible unhook in the water and release. If it's a really nice fish have your partner snap some shots during said release in the water,.. if you are solo it's a memory.

Thanks
Thanks to the guy at Constance Bay on Friday around 6pm. Can't remember his name but he has a white Dodge RAM Hemi that sounds frinkin awesome when punched. I got stuck in my small truck after a full day on the ice. Getting out was iffy but I got to where I wanted to be. 8 hours later things changed...

Re: Shirleys bay Ice
Was out yesterday from 4 to after 8pm Access was about 3 inches or so of crusty shush for a short bit. Beyond that all good. Someone did take their truck on the ice. They only came out about 50 yards and drove east aways, fished and returned. My fishing partner asked if I've ever see a vehicle go th...

Re: Shirleys bay Ice
If anyone has any info/speculation on what the ice is like after yesterday and today that would be great. Planning on hitting ice after work today but concerned about how much water is on top. I would think the overall thinkness hasn't changed much from when I was out on Sunday,...

Re: Hummingbird 798c si purchase
I've had the 798c SI for several years now. Love it. Can't disagree that bigger is always better no doubt. I use SI for trolling shore lines primarily. I fish muskie so the troll is usually 4.5 to 5mph and with the SI looking in the direction of the shore I can see the weed line and gauge how far aw...
