I'd go with the Traxxis - I have the older version of Traxxis and there are two principle advantages: 1) Much better battery life. 2) Better variable speed i.e., 0 to 100 rather than discrete settings of 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 (or similar). This is really helpful to get your drift speed "just right...

Kayak fishing accessories

Hi guys - what is your "go-to" spot for kayak fishing accessories? I want to pick up some paddle clips, rod holders etc - certainly lots of options on the internet but would prefer to buy locally if available.

Thanks,

Hey - just a heads up that if you are going to be fishing in Zone 10, trout don't open until April 23, 2010. When the season opens, light line w/ spinners and small spoons etc. are a good bet - I like to add a little worm to whatever presentation I'm using - morning and evening are best. Good luck, CD

Joco, great timing as I just purchased a small 10 foot kayak from OVCK - actually this one right here - and I have a tech. question. I have a Humminbird 565 fish finder that I want to alternate back and forth between my...

crown land map for quebec

Hi guys - anyone know if there is an on-line map of crown land for Quebec? I'm looking to explore some of the lakes around the cottage in the Laurentians with my kayak but have no idea what is private vs. public land up there. There is a nice one for Ontario: http://crownlanduseatlas.mnr.gov.on.ca/ ...

I've had a good experience with them - lengthened the power cables on my trolling motor no problem.

I've only recently become somewhat proficient (and I use that term loosely) with brookies up at the cottage but a few thoughts: -morning and evening are best (if they are rising, you're in business) -look for wood/structure/weeds in deep water along steep shorelines -in the spring any small spinner ...

As everyone has said, they are very, very warm.

I usually just wear athletic pants and a dry fit t-shirt or long-sleeve t-shirt - doing any kind of major "work" in your suit will cause you to sweat and then cool down if you dress too heavy.

I have the Mustang suit and my friend (Mossman) has the HH suit - some observations. 1) Mustang seems to be slighly lighter/warmer than HH - that said, they both do an excellent job keeping out the elements. 2) HH edges out the Mustang in comfort owing to the suspenders - I'm going to see if suspend...

Hi - I would also recommend http://www.airmelancon.com - they fly out just north of Mont Laurier (~3hrs from Ottawa) up to Baie du Nord in the Gouin reservoir. It is fairly inexpensive as fly-ins go. Like Robert Goulet said, the walleye will be out in the main basin around islands and long points. N...
