Re: Splake through the ice..
If the splake are something like a brook trout pond they will act like brook trout and you will catch them in 15 ft.. Dog is a complex fishery and had lakers up to 20 years ago. The splake are more like lakers and Dog has big schools of open water baitfish like cisco and shad which is why grow so bi...

Re: Stocking list. How accurate is it?
Why not just put the stocking reports (accurate and up to date) up on that site by district? Put a link right on the site. Makes more sense than having some employee firing it all over the place. Folks look at other Provinces and States....we're pathetic. I know a lake that was stocked with 4,000 ra...

Re: Anyone fished Rockingham Creek, near Combermere, Ontario
There are tiny spring fed streams scattered around parts of Eastern Ontario that have or had brookies that are not on stocking lists. Unfortunately some don't anymore. I know of a few that no longer support trout and what is amazing it has only been in the past dozen or so years that this has happen...

Re: Proposition! Looking to Rent a Fly Rod
Isn't renting a guy's fly rod like renting his wife? You can look but don't touch. That's a good analogy! lol...Renting his wife! :P Good one : haha If you follow that analogy further then there must be "bad" rods that you can rent and of course there are a lot of weirdo's out there...so ...

Re: Do you EAT Bass? Just curious...
A lot of nonsense there Spence Scout. I don't know where you came up with those half baked opinions. How does a guy who doesn't eat fish know what each tastes like with such certainty? You must have a master chefs palette. If you saw turds floating around you should have contacted someone at the MOE...

Re: Do you EAT Bass? Just curious...
It is kinda dumb NOT to eat bass because they are far and away our most numerous gamefish by a huge margin....And believe it or not a LMB is a better eating fish than a SMB. People assume that the SMB is a better eating fish because it comes out of cooler and clearer water but I find SMB have a lot ...

Re: I need help please, so many questions
I second Todd's suggestion. Circle hooks are terrific. You eliminate jerking the hook on a panfish or weed, they are more snag free. If the bass doesn't grab it and go which hooks hooks itself all you do is tighten your line on the bass. Hooks it in the corner of the mouth.

Re: Bobs lake launch
The cut between Crow and Bob's is very narrow (6-8 ft.) but is only about 50 ft. long. Usually in summer there is about 18"-24" of water in the very middle. I drove a 16' Lund thru and did not hit. Again though water level can change. The ramp on Crow is very good. I found the fishing bett...

I always tell them. I point to the prep or parking area and say....that is where you get your boat ready to launch and this is where you launch it okay. Makes this a lot easier for everyone plus I feel better having told them than stewing about wishing I had of told them  . The ones I like best...

Re: Calabogie Rainbows!
According to the Pembroke stocking report they have switched from a wild Ganaraska strain to a domestic strain. They are also stocked as yearlings and not fingerlings. A yearling domestic can be as large as 10" when stocked although 7"- 8" is more likely a 13-14 incher under good cond...

Re: Lake Placid / Saranac Lake area
This time of year the Saranac River along Silver Lake Rd. Big water...the Ausable x 2 be careful. There are 2 parking areas. Cast Panther Martins and small spoons. Troll Lake Colby outside Saranac Lake for bows, browns and LLS. Too warm yet for pond brookies. Lake Placid has rainbow, lakers, SMB and...

Ganman: Fishing from shore but i am thinking about bringing my boat but more than likely shore fishing ! It is a little early for fish in the river. If they are in I would get some of those egg in jars with scent, believe it or not big blue plastic eggs worked best for me and usually they were in a...

Re: Ganaraska river in Port Hope
I am headed to Port hope in early September for the Salmon run and have yet to ever catch a Salmon. Just wondered if anyone can give me some info on what lures to use.Where would be the best place to start fishing. I have heard Cleo's, Williams wobblers, and some Rapala's. I am a Newbie to this typ...
