Re: Fishing in Quebec

Dead bait can still transmit disease, eg VHS... unless the dead bait is properly preserved / sterilized with salt etc Like RJ said, if that's the issue then why is it ok for part of the year? Simple answer: With these important rules, there is no introduction of minnows, dead or alive, into Quebec ...

Re: Fishing in Quebec

bl8nt - no...we are all affected by the regulation as we cannot use dead minnows... Just curious; What is it that your catch with dead minnows that you can't catch with something else? What is it that you want to catch that's worth the risk of introduction of invasive species or diseased fish into ...

Re: Ardent Professional Denny Brauer Signature F-700 Flippin

Front line guide appears fixed position... Does it have a traverse for level wind? LOL... no. It reminds me of a yoyo. The line piles up tall on a deep trench-like spool! No joke. Like I said, when I looked at the thing I thought there was no way I was ever going to use it. It looks so unconvention...

Re: older shimano symetre

Take the side plate off for a start and pop the spool off. Visually inspect first, then work it to see if that gives you any more clues. It could well just need a good cleaning. Pretty sure Mikes Reels would have a drawing of that reel which will help with reassembly after you clean everything up. ...

Re: Fishing in Quebec

Just spoke to the guy who operates a car wash and U-Haul and trailer rental outlet who also sells minnows on Front St. in Aylmer. He was pretty discouraged with the new law coming into effect at the end of the month. Basically told me that his live minnow sales was essentially the difference betwee...

Re: Deep and Shallow Cranking - Two Different Rods? BASS

s but I am assuming you do not plan on cranking in deeper water that 15' with these setups right? I am sure having two setups would be beneficial but I don't think it is 100% required. 100% correct. I think 15 would be the max. Not likely to crank down past that. I'll get accused of trolling for ba...

Re: Ardent Professional Denny Brauer Signature F-700 Flippin

It's not going to win any beauty contests and it took me the longest time to actually try and use it. But once I did, and stopped laughing at it, I learned to love it! It's heavy. That much is certain. I think it's made out of recycled A10 Warthogs or something, but damn it if I don't love it! Flip ...

Re: Fishing in Quebec

. I can drive with a car right up to several lakes on crown land in Quebec where I regularly catch 3-4 pound native brook trout. There is always a true possibility to catch 5-7 pounders in these lakes as well... You won't find this in the ''Ottawa area'' on the Ontario side of the river. I ...

Re: Fishing in Quebec

I don't understand how this could happen unless somehow fertilized eggs are involved. Could you explain? Again in my experience lakes like Pemich and 31 Mile have been constantly fished forever with Cisco and Smelt and to the best of my knowledge there has been no harm done or the practice would ha...

Re: Fishing in Quebec

You are talking about two different things Steve; - Meat heads over fishing - People bringing in invasive and diseased species. All I am saying is if you are from out of province and don't like it, TFB. You live in Quebec Steve? Go to your MNA. Vote accordingly. If the MFFP has to stop every person ...

Deep and Shallow Cranking - Two Different Rods? BASS

Deep and Shallow Cranking - Two Different Rods? I am looking at rods and such for the coming season and I am getting to the crank rod part of my decision tree and I can't decide if I need a separate setup for a wake bait and a proper diving crank bait. I will have one setup for each application, jus...

Re: Fishing in Quebec

I've kind of always thought quebec's conservation laws were fine by me. not my place to complain. and if they ever arrive at a state where it is unacceptable to me....I stop going. Exactly. I get a little wound up when I hear of people coming to MY province and complaining about how things are or w...

Re: Fishing in Quebec

Don't like it? No live bait. No dead bait. Don't like it? Don't fish here then. I go to Ontario and respect their laws and regs. If I go to Iceland, or BC I have to go barbless. I hate it. But that the rules. Who am I to say they are wrong? Invasive species is a problem all over the world. We don't ...

Am I the only one with one these odd animals? I got it brand new to try from Bobber some time ago and was so unsure about it, took me over 4 years to try it! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Qz3A8CH7DrU/UJLZt_ZbYII/AAAAAAAAAis/7F6_8lMXCDo/s1600/b_prod_DBardent_365x204.jpg I love it. Re: Bass Fishing Hooks Size - Shaky Head - Wacky – Shad

I'm a big fan of the Megastike heads, I haven't found one that stands up better, I mainly fish 3/16-1/4oz. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/uploads/monthly_08_2014/post-10213-0-69989100-1407170998.jpg Hmmm... 4 pack from Tackle Warehouse @ $5.50... not bad at all...I also found the c...
