The trick is to not fill your spool completely. I did and I had the that same problem. Back it off 50 feet from full and you should be alright.

Try the kemptville area of the rideau river by the bridge. you can launch at the prov park. Another good spot is the around the right side of buckhams bay where it opens to the main river.

I hit the rapids by the filtration plant tonight for an hour and a half. I picked up 1 nice size walleye and a sauger both around 2 pounds, nice fish.They both went back in for another day "I dont like to eat fish that live in smelly brown water".
