Re: A brief outing on a day off from school!

Very nice! Always a blast to see the youngins hooking into the abundance of cats we have around the city! I was out yesterday very close to that spot, hooked into this beauty 5 pounder and many more! :D

Re: Catfish Therapy!

Good stuff! I need to get out for some cats again, never had a bad day targeting them around the city in the warmer months! Seems like most deep areas (15+ feet of water) near shore with little to no current is stacked with them wherever you go. Doesnt mean they aren't in the shallows though, I've s...

Becoming addicted to gar!!!

This year I've been putting lots of effort into landing some big gar, after finding a few hot spots around the city that see little to no pressure my only problem was setting the hook on them!!! After lots of trial and error i finally got it down thanks to a buddy whos technique seems to work! i don...

Good opening day!!

Got out on Saturday looking forward to catching a few eyes for dinner. Got to the spot and the shoreline was filled with other anglers. It didn't take long before i had a few snot rockets hit beside shore during the day but the walleye still weren't in the rapids. By 7:00 i stopped playing with the ...

Re: Skunked by crappie again!

Lots of crappie around kars. Haven't found many downstream from manotick but I've had the odd evening where a huge school of slab crappie came around the upper section of long island locks when i used to fish it, but it was a hit and miss most days.

Re: Carps and spawning.

You can catch carp before, during, and after the spawn. I haven't noticed much of a difference with the bite other than its a hit and miss some days, in fact some of my best days hooking them was when i saw dozens spawning in pods around the shallows. Chumming is the way to go, if you start seeing b...

Re: Northern pike questions

I slayed a bunch of pike last spring after opener using dead chubs under a bobber. The action was great, but the gar would take the minnows most of the time..
