Big Rideau Lakers Report

Decided to give Charleston a break and try Big Rideau today. We left a little late and got on the lake at 8:30 AM. Did a quick set up and half an hour later got into our first fish. Not long after we had another one on but it long line released :( We ended up fishing until 12 noon and finished with ...

I have the Garmin GPS Map76. Great unit. Comes loaded with North America map. Can be loaded with the blue chart maps which are great for fishinng. Spend the little extra cash for a better unit. Recommend getting one that can be loaded with extra maps. If you do some hicking or hunting or even alot o...

Hi folks,
Just wanted to know if there's info on all the bass tournies going on this weekend. My partner and I want to go bass fishing but would like to avoid the busy spots. Thx. Cheers!

Nice pics Wolfe. Any walleye is a good walleye in my book. Hope you made a snack of em'. Those 14 inchers are the best eaters yum yum! :D Despite the weather, looks like you had a great time. Cheers!

Hey BBR, I would go with the down-east rodholders which I think are perfect for you type of boat and situation. But they are not cheap per say. If you want to go really cheap, they have Scotty rod holders at Canadian Tire for $19.99 which would work for you. Good Luck! Cheers! http://www.cabelas.com...

Hi Ontariodreaming, We were catching them on average in 70-80 feet of water. I was running the canon balls almost touching bottom. The fish seemed to be tight on the sholes and structure. An older gentlemen which I had met on a lake in Quebec quite a few years ago told me that the trick to fishing l...

Hi Fishing Freak, I was there also with my partner Lost Leader. We didn't enter the derby but we were fishing for lakers also. We got on the lake at about 7:30 am and fished until 1:30 pm. We got a total of 8 lakers but nothing over 2 pounds. It was a tough day fishing for sure. And yes, the h...

Hi guys and gals!

Marc Thorpe sent me an e-mail at 04:30 this morning. He's busy guiding for walleye for a few days but will reply to the thread about gaffing when he returns. Thanks Marc. :D

Good article MuskieWannabe. Like the article says, all methods are good as long as they are done properly. I guess it's a matter of preference. I found gaffing the quickest. You can bring the fish out of the water quickly and remove the hook fast and easily, take a quick pic and release the fish in ...
