Burning Gas and Filling Tags: A Dream Turkey Season

After Dad and I both tagged out last year for the first time, there was cautious optimism in the air for this year's turkey hunt. After a couple days of renovations on the house, opening morning came and so started 5 days of turkey hunting that I will never forget. Opening Day Opening morning did no...

Re: eating downtown fish

One of the funniest things I've ever read in here was a heated exchange of opinions by two Moderators on the table quality of Ottawa River fish. It was absolutely hilarious, but I think they got called to the principals office because all of a sudden they were best buds, giving high fives, butt sla...

Bungalow wrap-up and March Break in God's Country

With the wacky March weather, we ended up pulling the plug on Bungalow season 2016 on March 6th. A little sooner than I had hoped but with my ice road barely solid after the previous thaw, I had a short window to pull huts off on solid ice before another warm spell and I decided to sacrifice the las...

Re: Kipawa, antler''s kingfisher lodge, bisctasi, lady evely

Wayne and Barb at Kipawa Lodge are great people and as Smitty stated, the fishing and hospitality get great reviews. They were my neighbors at the Gatineau Sportsmen's Show two years in a row which leads me to believe that if you get them soon, before Show season you should be able to get a spot.

Re: 2017 Ice Bungalow Rentals

Thanks for the nice write up Steve. Sunday afternoon was the slowest half day we've had at the bungalows all year. I'm glad you were able to get a few topside. The fishing has progressively gotten better all week. The last couple days have been quite good. I look forward to hosting you again. Let me...

Just for you Rod. There's a veritable ling epidemic in Bungalow Bay this year. One group caught 18 over the course of their weekend!

Re: Crappie bay

Bungalow Bay still has 18 - 20" of ice. The road entrance is wet but the ice is fine. We didn't even lose the 2 inches of snow on the ice, let alone any ice last week. I imagine Crappie Bay has similar conditions.

Re: Live Bait in the Ottawa Area

Hard to beat Charlie in Rockland. At times Petrie is the only spot with golden shiners but best have an aerator if you're not fishing right away.

Re: 2017 Ice Bungalow Rentals

Yup. This snow won't help but with the long range forecast the way it is, the ice should build slow and steady and be fine mid January. The big walleye get caught in the dark there. I hope you get a biggun'.

Rates are not based on full occupancy just a 2 person minimum.
