What Terry F said about the Shimano rod. I have my reel spooled with power pro, tied directly to the tube jig, and the heavy action rod gives a dandy hook set. The heavier rod tends to tire me arm out quickly, so I sometimes switch to the ol dependable Rhino rod which is faster tipped, but very stro...

 Joco, you are THE MAN!! That's a slick rigging job. I really like the spotter flag in the back. Good safety thinking. My fishing line would spend most of its' time wrapped around something like that, so I'll just stick to the florescent tape on the gunnels. Like the rod holders, and the fish...

hat for Micah

 Well, when you folks get home, I have an old summer fish hawk hat for doggy. All you have to do is cut holes for the ears. Not a peaked cap, but one of the............"round?" ones. It shrunk a wee bit, but just right for a lab. Serves me right for washing a fishing hat. Put the jin...

Quote, Dropshotter:"There are some interesting points being made. Here are some of my observations. Size limits: The St. Lawrence River has not had a size limit on bass for a very long time. Commorants pose a far more serious threat to bass stocks than a "no size" limit ever will. My ...

Try any and all of the fast water around any of the locks in the Rideau Canal. Smallie fishing is usually pretty good. Take care. Water is higher than usual for this time of year and pretty fast in places. You will probably catch more small smallies than big ones, so if you catch and release, consid...

Hi Joco, Sorry to her of your wet vacation. I was finally able to get an Old Town canoe, (used-can't afford new) and haven't been out in it much. Blame the weather. Finally went out and bought a good pair of lightweight rain pants to go with the jacket...........Now am ready!!............But it real...

This is a very sad event. Like the chances of being hit by lightning. I always try to get a lure to release so the trajectory takes it to person in the other end of the boat  Worse that has happened personally; a hula popper decided to let go of the lilly pads and embed itself in my right cal...

"UNDERSIZED BASS"

 The header above has to be in quotation marks, as with the advent of this season, LEGALLY undersized bass (in area 18 at least), are no more. Unfortunately, the season is unfolding as I hoped it would not, with me and several others personally witnessing the taking of bass as small as eight i...

We used to use Cornwall Spinners most of the time, for pike, and found that their jaws are so strong, they could twist that spinner wire 20 different ways, come up to the boat with the bait held crossways in their mouths, then, just drop it. Couldn't set it hard enough to move it in their mouths. Th...

Thanks guys; Quite a few changes made over the last little while. So, I suppose, if you DO keep some bass to eat, and DO keep a few dinks, at least now you don't have to get your t.shirt all smelly sneakin them home, eh? Not to mention fin punctures in the armpit....... I don't usually catch t...

Please tell me it ain't so

Just checking out the regs (Thanks Rider), for Area 18, and realized there are no size limits posted for bass.........nowhere!!

True?

One can keep any size?
