Draven mentioned a possible tourney on saturday so i may go sunday too. It should be slightly warmer but at least the winds will drop. Should be out on the ice sunday for 9:30-10:00ish give or take road conditions... last week i ended up having to take the long way round on the 417 as the backroads ...

I think the slow fishing at petrie this year has probably something to do with the extra current and high water levels that have probably stired up the water considerably over the past few weeks. I know when i try to hold carp in an area it's nice to have a bed of bait out there that will keep them ...

Well i just looked at the weather and for Sat in picton they are giving it ... High 4c - Wet Flurries and W 45 km/h .. I know there's bays so even with the wind there should be a place to hide although it's something to be careful of at this time of year as ken points out... especially by yourself !...

The ramp on the opposite side to picton was a good ramp. It was a little steep but had great traction. Just make sure to go out straight as there's a few rocks on the side.. nothing to worry about if it's daylight but if you launch in the early hours you may not notice them.. Also as with any docks ...

CCB it's stories like that which highlight the need for us to wear them more often. I think it was the mnr that ran a tv campaign that had two kids wearing their pfds in a boat and no parents to be seen except for a pfd that wasn't being worn.. Like MT says when kids are in the boat we set a good ex...

It's the one time you don't bother.. i know... I've heard of that happening and again it's something i tend to do only when it's rough... I can only imagine what injuries would occur if a boat ran over you.. it's a scary thought.. It's funny that we never think twice about putting out seatbelts on b...

Lifejackets should they be required by law ?

I know this is a topic that tends to come up in the middle of winter when nothing much is happening but it's something that may happen one day. There's all the usual arguments about enforcement and the bulkyness when fishing. Let's see what most people think out there. Personally i know i don't wear...

I'll probably go to the carp one next year and skip the ottawa one.. only if fish-hawk makes a second appearance though

Some may also want to try injecting some scent into the worms to give a slick of additional attractor. In europe many people who fish with dead baits for pike inject fish oils and air into the bait for extra attraction and to lift the baits up slightly off leaves and branches etc... I good trick whe...

A bit like the guy did 15 minutes before you saw the ideal spot

Now how many people think about throwing something like a jig onto the bank and slowly draging it back into the water.

I would like to see Carp removed forever from the Rideau. Bad Bad Fish! oh Lucannus.. I better not get you started on the carp from that statement alone i can see you don't like them one bit. :) I also better not tell you that i fished for carp exclusivly in England and a few times in France for ab...

Overpopulation leads in the longterm to stunded fish as there is too much competition to catch the same food. The cats in question are they one of the smaller cat species ? .. as in some parts of canada (Red River in Manitoba springs to mind) cats can get to a nice size 20lbs plus... What limit did ...
