Wow, I always assumed stocked lakes were open year round, didn't bother checking zone 15 before heading out.
I guess that bad karma is why we got skunked.
Lesson learned. Thanks for the head's up, will be sure to be more thorough in my research next time.

Re: 2023 ice conditions Lanark Highlands in around Calabogie
We fished Belanger on Dec 27th before the big thaw and had 3-6 inches of good ice and a good 6 inches of white ice. Not sure what it looks like now, but I would assume you would be fine. The road wasn't plowed past a certain point that left us with a decent hike in. I spoke with another angler who m...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
Hit up Shirley's Bay twice over the weekend, for someone used to having to hike in all of my gear on random back lakes, let me just say that the ice road is a welcome change! Friday had a decent 23ish inch pike strike my dead stick within 2 minutes of dropping down, my buddy caught an nice 18 inch b...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2022 Ice season
Went out on Friday afternoon, pushed out a bit past most of the permanent shacks in roughly 12 ft. landed 16 walleye/sauger. Non stop action, a couple nice 16 inch keepers and a bunch in the 10-12 inch range. I've never had the bite be on like that at Shirley's, usually would only catch a couple at ...

Fish Finder Help
I have the Lowrance Hook 2 4x Ice Bundle which came with the ice transducer as well as a bullet ducer to stick onto a boat/kayak. The ice ducer came all wired up and was easy to install and set up with the battery and the unit itself, however, the bullet ducer did not come wired and the instructions...

Re: reports of open water
Hi all,
I've got the itch to go out and try my luck on the Ottawa for some cats this weekend. Is it too early? Any pointers on how to target them from shore?

Re: Shirleys Bay reports
I was out on Sunday from approx. 2 to 6 pm. Pretty consistent action, landed 5 sauger and 1 walleye (missed a bigger bite). It was my first successful trip to Shirley's out of 4 or 5. Still lacking in size but a fun outing nonetheless. found them in roughly 12 FoW. Might try going out a bit farther ...
