Re: Johnson 15hp issues - Ran great, now this - VIDEO
Cheers guys, thanks for the replies. I believe the problem is electric, more than likely the coils. I will be checking the spark tonight along with the plugs and pretty much the whole electrical system.

Re: Sad new for my boat
Try AIM outboard recyclers off of Carp road. Has supplied me with a lot of parts over the years.

Johnson 15hp issues - Ran great, now this - VIDEO
Hello all, Been having an acceleration issue with my 1991 (possibly 1992) Johnson 15hp. Machine ran great all summer. Had it out on Christie Lake at the end of August and it started to do this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwIHi56wtN6rbFBYT1lEVDRvVm8/view?usp=sharing I had my brother take the vi...

Re: Shore fishing along Highway 7 - any suggestions?
I suggest stopping at most bridges and firing a few casts underneath to see what you can stir up. Usually a decent bass is waiting. It would be also worthwhile to see if a quick left or right off the 7 would bring you to a crossing that might not get fished too often. We used to stop in front of the...

Re: Pike Lake fish report
Pike lake was great for walleye, had no idea about the bass population. Fished there from the early 90's until about 2003-04 when the fish population fell off dramatically. Something about letting too much water out of the lake and ruining a lot of spawning habitat. Definitely is a tight fit on the ...

Re: What would you do?
back lake trout fishing for sure. Leave the gas engine at home though and get your hands on an electric. Most of those lakes are so small a gas engine is not needed. I would have a good look at the sled trails around Lanark / Addington that run close to lesser fished trout lakes. Most of those major...

Opinions on Sonar
Hello all, Looking for some opinions on buying a used Sonar Unit. Trying to keep the price around $200-$250, if possible. There are many, many units out there, trying to get the best bang for my buck. I had seen this: Garmin Fish Finder model Echo 301-DV recently for $150. The reviews looked good, s...

Re: QC Resident Fishing Permit Just Went Up By Almost 50%
Here is the link to the fees for Ontario Residents: https://www.ontario.ca/travel-and-recreation/fishing-licence-fees-ontario-residents This new system in Ontario with the plastic card and the yellow slip of paper seems pretty silly. I liked the old way where they had stickers, just like when you re...

Re: Canoe fishing
@houner - great idea with the ballast under the front seat - have to try that, also the drift sock.... I'm a back lake trout guy, so I fish almost exclusively from a canoe. I have a friend that owns a nice 16.5' kevlar tripper so the portages are a dream as the boat is so light. We always prepare fo...

Re: Clam Ice shelters excellent customer service
good to hear! That's how companies need to be treating their customers. Sadly, it is the exception, not the norm. I have found that calling the company directly often gets better results. Lost the top of a depth sounder case (really old) because I didn't secure it and went WOT - it went to the botto...

Re: Ice reel - straight line
The Missus got me a Moulinet Ice R-Type Rapala reel for Christmas last year from Sail.
Its all-metal consruction and works much better than those $20 combos. I don't normally spend a lot of ice gear but its nice to have at least one decent setup

Re: Fishing Mishaps
Two quick ones.... 1) Used my lovely work allowance for glasses to buy a pair of oakleys with prescription polarized lenses. Why not right? So we're out fishing for the day, I'm loving the polarized effect and being able to see into the water, no glare to squint at etc...so much so that I forget I'm...

Re: Fishing Mishaps
The rebirth At a friends cottage ice-fishing for trout. We were out front with our lines down the holes, doing the usual maintenance, clearing ice, checking minnows, moving the flasher from hole to hole etc. Had the sleds out tearing around, brought the BBQ down to the lake and made it a party. Well...

Re: help with canoe rack for 4wheeler
How do you find the weight distribution having the sportspal up there? A friend and I thought about doing it to his ATV, but decided against it because we thought that it would tip easily on some of the rougher trails.
