When going for the smaller fish you also want to *avoid* areas that are going to have lots of bigger fish in them. ie. don't try to lure perch into an area where you know that bass / pike / lakers spawn. Totally agree Smitty - It's not the best method for sure, but it beats cutting the holes by hand which is my only other option. Get a Li-Ion battery drill, the cold doesn't affect them as much. Also make sure you have some sort of rotating tether strap, a float or other retainer at the top of the shaft if you are using the regular drill chuck.
