Lac la Peche
Heading to lac la Peche for a bit of canoe camping and fancy taking a rod or two. Any tips, suggestions about fishing there from a canoe?

Re: New PBs at Lac Tucker
Nice work and congrats on your first pike! I fished that very same lake last August and was almost skunked until I decided to cast a jitterbug just before dusk. I quickly landed a big smallmouth with it, around the size you have there. It's not a bad little lake, is it? :D Thanks! Yeah, good small ...

Re: Length limits for bass - Quebec
I don't think there are any length limits on the QC bass, but I'm not 100% on that. As for what size you keep, it's mostly personal preference. Talking smallmouth, everything over 3.5 lbs gets released in my boat, and then I 'cull down' from there haha depending on my needs. I try to keep the 2-2.5...

Length limits for bass - Quebec
Hello, I am trying to locate the length limits or slot limits for bass in Quebec zone 10. When I go to the site (http://mrnf-faune.gouv.qc.ca/peche/) it only seems to give catch limits (6 for bass) and length limits for other species such as walleye and trout. Is there a length limit or slot limit? ...

New PBs at Lac Tucker
Hey everyone, Went to a friend's cottage up by Mt St Marie and did a bit of fishing on the small lake that they are on (Lac Tucker). The kids and I started off in the evening off the dock, my son broke the skunk by catching a bluegill but then the bass started to break the surface of the water. I im...

Re: setting the hook
This thread and the posted videos really helped me. This week I caught a beauty 3.5lb (19 inch) SM bass and my very first northern pike (6lb and 27 inches). Thx!

Re: New to fishing - Ottawa river
Tubes work well for me for SM. Get some hooks with 1/8 oz weights on, slide em into the tube (need to moisten the inside with spit). Cast out, let it fall to the bottom, bring in the slack, wait, lift and let it fall again, repeat until bite, set hook, real in SM bass, pose for picture, light your p...

setting the hook
New fisherman here seeking some advice/clarification. I have landed a few nice SM and LM bass this year but I can't help think that I could be landing more and losing less. It seems it is always the larger ones that get away and I think I may have stumbled on the reason. However I figured "why ...

Re: Help with fishing strategy
You mention that you saw some fish in an area that you could not get to. Are you limited by the boat you have or do you not have the proper gear to get the lures to those areas? I was shore fishing and the particular spot was beyond my casting ability (and thick with weeds). Thanks again for all th...

Re: Help with fishing strategy
Wow, that's a loaded question. Yeah sorry, I guess I am asking a very difficult question. How long were you out there? about 5 hours Did you try searching for similar spots elsewhere? Yes I worked along both banks If you think that you are going to find fish at every outing on the same spots, it's ...

Help with fishing strategy
Hey all! Newbie fisherman here. I went out to a spot that I have caught fish at in the past (between Lac Leamy and the Ottawa River) but apart from landing a very small perch I had barely a bite all day. I looked for cover and structure and started with a hula popper to see if any fish were interest...
