Re: Whopper Plopper
I have a few of all sizes. I prefer the bigger one in black. I’ve had them for 2years now and don’t let the size of the big one fool you, a 12 inch bass will hammer it. Look at it as a buzz bait that you can stop and leave sit for as long as you want.

Re: Are there fish in the Rideau?
What type of leader are you using? I use straight 60lb+ braid or 20 pound sunline flouro and a Texas rigged worm or a frog (on braid). And fish the thickest stuff you can find ,

Re: Procedure with OOS fish
It doesn't matter how big the fish is, you are not allowed to take pictures of it. As soon as you notice it's OOS it's not hard to let slack in the line. Most of the time the fish will spit the hook right away. Or if hooked with mupltiple hooks there's no reason the fish needs to be out of the water...

Re: Cranberry Lake/Dog Lake
I personally use 50 pound braid or 20 pound flouro with a 3/8-1oz tungsten flipping weight and a craw , beaver , or ribbon tail style bait.
Or you could try a senko wacky rigged with a weedless hook. Personally I can't stand throwing one

Re: Spinning vs casting
I'd also stay away from carrot sticks . They might have redesigned them but I'm not willing to take that chance with my money. I would check out Shimano , Or Diawa . I would recommend a baitcaster with flouro for spinnerbaits and crankbaits. If you go to paddletales ,Ed will set you up with exactly ...

Re: Make Your Own Soft Plastics?
You could check out impact baits out of Toronto area. They have a really good plastic recipe and do bulk orders. There is a new owner now so not sure on pricing but nobody could beat his price last year.

Re: Top water set up advice
I use the gloomis frog rod model TWFR 854C,7' 1",Heavy,Fast . I have it pairs up with a shimano Calais reel, with 50 pound power pro braid. My popper and spook rod is almost the same action , Calais reel but spoiled with 17 pound mono. Because you need a versatile rod for a few different baits ...

Re: Sunscreen VS Helix 7....Any solutions??
Not sure how to get it off but a way to prevent it and keep the better half happy is to wear long sleeves. Under armour makes a great lightweight shirt that is uv protectant along with many jerseys out there. I know sail normally has some gloomis jerseys that are very comfortable and you do t get bu...

I would also recommend Allan from Allan's bait and tackle. I've seen many animals done from him and they are all top quality!
