Re: Spring Laker Trip - Cedar Lake

Trolling shallow raps would would work in early spring, use a long line behind the boat. I like spoons - usually williams silver or gold in the 2 1/2 inch size. If you're shore bound due to wind, fishing shallow water from dry land can work, especially with pops to keep you hydrated. You can soak so...

Re: Why are Splake so Finicky?

Do you guys find splake to frustrating to fish, or is it just me. Not just you. We've hit so many no-fish splake lakes that we have a saying "Splake don't really exist".When I try to get my friends to go to a splake lake, they claim it's a mythical fish. We have much better luck with lake...

Re: Stocking list. How accurate is it?

The stocking lists are pretty accurate based on the lakes we've tried. About 1/10, the first species we catch is a surprise. Usually a bass on a no-bass lake. Some of the stocked trout lakes list a whole bunch of additional species and like Choke says, we never see any of those. A few remote lakes t...

Re: Motor support when trailering

I used a transom saver on my princecraft 176, 90hp. Works great but have some tips... 1) the connector to the trailer was one of those pin with ball bearings. Eventually it rusted and the pin would not stay. Needless to say I sharpened my transom saver that day the pin popped out and I dragged it ar...

Re: Stay away from Hardwood Lake?

Which one ? There are three Hardwood Lakes in the area, one in Algonquin Park and two outside of it. Not sure which one you should stay away from. So, either a trout fisherman is protecting their excellent spot like Dcaster's theory (my bet too) or some guy long ago said "you gotta try Hardwood...

Re: Murphy's point camping and fishing info

It turns out my GF seems a it unsure about the details... We might be heading out there with Kayaks. I think jigging with tubes and swim baits might be the only logical method out of a kayak in Hoggs Bay :$.... I'll get displeased with drifting.... Jigging should work great... Check this guy out .....

Re: Carp Spring outdoor show

I really like the carp show. Great with the kids, and lots of stuff to buy. Funny, I specifically try to go to the show cause I like catching up with Ron (that guy from Nemio). He's a great host, tells great stories and will put you onto fish. I've been to Nemio a few times and he's right, you can c...

Re: Fishing Papineau -Labelle

I'd say all the lakes could be good. They manage that fishery pretty hard, stocked lakes and limits on the days they let people fish a lake. I haven't been there for a few years so grain of salt. We used to rent the cabin on Sifflet - good fishing there but it only is available with the cabin rental...

Re: Fish Sanctuary/Regs Near Wendover Discussion

I found this http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LIO/2ColumnSubPage/STDPROD_104996.html Allows you to create your own map and they have the concession lots marked clearly so it's pretty easy to find the north side of concession 4 and there is lots of water downstream from there to the ottawa. Make ...

Re: Downrigger advice needed

This the article ? http://www.fish-hawk.net/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=12489 I use electric downriggers so no advice on hand cranking. I use an 8 lb ball - fish up to 100ft, slow trolling works great. You could get away with 6 lbs for 60 ft. You'll love being able to track right at the fish depth. 60-...

I heard Limestone or Norway lakes are good but not sure if they stock lakers. Any helpédirection is appreciated. Hate to see you hit the "wrong lake" but there are a couple of "Limestone" lakes. Stocking lists show that "Big Limestone" has lakers. The other Limestone ...

No I don't think so, the latest theories are unknown causes and a virus that has come here via asian eels and is harming our american eels. Think about it! the dams were all up by the 50's so if they were the cause then eel populations would have crashed in the 60's or at least by the 70's and that...

Heh, good question.

Actually my wife brought over a bottle of champagne to celebrate her first fish.

Later I classed it up with a beer
