Re: How are you dealing with the Stay-At-Home-Order?

I suppose that would technically be in violation of the stay at home order, Well, you are supposed to stay at home unless essential but the rules in detail https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/r21265 allow Exercising, including, ... using an outdoor recreational amenity that is permitted to be op...

Re: Conservation Initiative

Signed the petition. I recall when I was a kid, there were still eels in the Ottawa and they were big. They used to be considered vermin and I used to find dead ones tossed on shore. They used to scare the shellac out of me when you caught them but they fought like crazy. I also did some eel searchi...

Perch weekend

It was a bit windy, but we setup on Saturday on the Big Rideau and the perch were on immediately. We get skunked more than we like on ice :) so when we got the first smaller ones we kept them. Turns out some larger ones showed up as well which was fine with us. Did a few hours and headed in. We had ...

Re: New Years Day Fishing

Nice fish!! so jealous ... I put my boat away for the winter a couple weeks ago, won't do that next year . Mother nature is sneaky. I think the same thing every time the weather stays nice into Dec and then when I actually keep the boat out, it snows, ices hard and I'm putting her away as it freezes...

Re: Petrie Island - Hardcore Ice Fishing

This website has lots of good info http://www.piifa.ca/ Fishing is free. You pay if you want to rent a hut or drive into the ice village (website above says $5 ) Ice is way thin to fish right now, I would stay away until way colder weather makes some safe ice. Survival suite and other safety gear ma...

Petrie Island - Hardcore Ice Fishing

Went out for a drive xmas day, nice to get out of the house for some fresh air, even if a bit wet. I was amazed to see folks ice fishing ... They look like they knew what they were doing and prepped for wet so I wasn't worried but wow  ... I''m a fan of thicker ice. I paparazzied a shot - har...

Congratulations to Lianna, nice fish.

You're a lucky man, having a grandkid who loves to fish with her grandpa. I'd bet you'd be happy if she out fished you 5 to 1 :)

Re: Lac Blue Sea

The laker season in Blue Sea ended Sept 13, 2020. You'll have to wait till next season (Last weekend in April 2021)

From shore, your best bet next spring is dead larger bait fish (must be dead to be legal there) cast off shore to tempt cruising trout and wait.

Re: Clyde River

I have waded parts of the upper Clyde (upstream french line) a while back. Access ? Not sure it was legit but via bushwhacking to and following the Creek. Anyhow, i found SM bass and creek chubs but in places there are ice cold springs flowing, even in hot summer. You notice cause you'll pass one an...

Re: Algonquin lake trout fishing tips.

This time of year, 40-60 ft will do it in Algonquin. I find that fish near the bottom are still active but the ones chasing bait up high are more active. The flats at the edge of deep water would be my bet, and any hump surrounded with deep water If you're still packing --- toss in some white tubes ...

Re: Newbie Trout Fishing Questions.

For brookies the Hildebrandt spinners would work just fine. Not sure which kind you have as there are a whole bunch of "spinners" ... If it's just blades and no hook, use a short 6-12 inch line and a hook attached to the end and troll it tipped with a worm. If the spinner has a hook, tip w...
