That's why you fish for muskie - the chance to catch a fish like that.
She surfaced right away so we both new it was a beast. From the netman's point of view, all I could think about was "Don't screw up the net job !!" . No issues and a strong release - Mission Accomplished.

Re: Putting the boat away
If you have boat insurance - check your policy. It will have an expiry date, usually around the middle of November unless you specifically requested something later in the season.

Re: tying wire leader
If you're breaking the leader tying the knot, I don't think I would use it for muskie fishing....

Re: Discourteous or not?
Discourteous !! I bass fish and own a cottage. I definitely hit the docks at certain times of the year, but don't go near them if someone is out enjoying their property. If I'm working a shoreline and someone is on their dock - I would stop casting, say hello and keep moving on to the next spot. I w...

Got out yesterday after lunch for a few hours of muskie fishing with Big C. There were 5 or 6 other boats in the parking lot - taking advantage of the good weather. After maybe an hour of trolling, I put on a depth raider and we target the 10 - 12 foot line. Just as Big C lets me know we've gone to ...

Rod building supplies
I'm thinking of giving rod building a try over the winter months. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to purchase blanks, or what type of equipment I'll need to buy to get started?
Or maybe I'm off base thinking I can build a fishing rod cheaper than I can purchase one !!

Some nice bass there..... My buddy suggested we try wacking rigging for bass after reading an article in a mag. It has been money every since. The first time out we must have put 50 bass in the boat in 3 hours. It has been so consistent that it is now the go to technique when we hit bass territory. ...
