In have that card, which I use in addition to lake maps that can be bought in the area, including Pathfinder's Maps in Carleton Place. Between the Garmin and the paper maps, I have a general idea of lake depths, but these are only approximate and should not be relied upon for safe navigation. The ca...

I was looking for about a year and a half for a decent used boat, and after going to various boat shows, looking up ads and seeing a lot of dreck that was advertised as being "mint", I gave up and was on the cusp of buying new. I figured that buying new, while much more expensive, would at...

You can buy a piece that inserts into the head that lets you attach your line, as well as having a glass rattle to add some noise. Or you can Texas rig.

Very nice report, well done. The Storm ThinFins work very well with the pike I find.

Mine is a bit loose as well, but after changing out the position of the tongue so that the trailer sits a tad higher, a lot of the rattling on the road has disappeared. Better the tongue bar is a wee bit loose, easier to remove.

Do the wires for the power, transducer etc come into a plastic holder that the fishfinder screen snaps onto? I find I occasionally have power or transducer problems because the plastic wiring bracket holder is not well designed, and the wires for the transducer, power and weather unit barely plug in...

Minn Kota Powerdrive 45lb thrust

After a bunch of research, I went with the Minn Kota V2 Powerdrive, 45 lb thrust. I was out the other day, and found this unit moved myself and a friend, both big guys, with lots of equipment on a 14' V-hull boat. It was calm on the water, and we held at 2 knots trolling speed with no problems. As I...

I caught a pretty decent sized ZipLoc baggie off Petrie Island (more like a Petri dish...), but I didn't keep it because it was under 16". I'm more used to the Lanark Highlands, so catching plastic bags of unknown origin is just a bit out of my comfort zone, but even out here I still see empty ...

Buying online from BassPro

Anyone have experience buying a large item like a trolling motor from Bass Pro online? With Cabelas, they tell you the full shipping and duty/taxes, but BP just indicates that the shipping (for a trolling motor) is $18.00, and that taxes get sorted out at this end. It also indicates that shipping ch...

Out this morning at the Miss below the falls in Pakenham, caught pike, which is what everyone else appeared to be catching as well. From previous experience, that area is good for pike this time of year.

Thanks for the replies gents. I drove by today and saw someone putting in. He said the water was low, about 3 feet in the bay, but it gets deeper as you move out toward the river proper. As Smokercraft said, its a nice gravel bottom at the launch. Do you use your trolling motors to get out to deeper...
