Re: Fishing in Quebec

bl8nt - no...we are all affected by the regulation as we cannot use dead minnows... The government asserts it authority by its ability to impose regulation, it has nothing to do with the consequence of not following the rules. The vast vast majority of people will follow the new rule! However, the n...

Re: Fishing in Quebec

To me this is an example of a regulation where the province is asserting its authority on law abiding fisherman. They do not have a clue how to stop the 1 or 2 percent who do all the damage. I don't know when this province will realize more regulations is not always the solution!!!!! My belief is th...

Re: Fishing in Quebec

cprince I could not disagree more...I now have a cottage that I can't ice fish and use minnows ( dead) the rest of the time. Absolutely ridiculous. I believe these laws are enacted because the province cannot trust the people to fish ethically. I am not talking about tourists either. I know very wel...

Hi guys I always freeze my minnows. The trick is to spread them over a large surface so as they do not touch each other. I sometimes also salt them. Remember this is ice fishing, so once they are frozen it should not be that hard to keep them frozen. On Sunday I got seven walleye, one on live minnow...

Bucketmouth

It is really bizarre that they do not know or consider a lake trout to be a char.

Perhaps they think fisher people are incapable of accepting that lake trout are misnamed? I dont know why they do this anyways, since 85% of the population is going to call them "Toulandi.

Tip up I always get my big ones shallow too and very late in the day. People often say there are no fish in those areaa but because you are fishing for big fish, the chances are far less that you are going to catch one. I have caught two really large walleye 5+ within 30 yards of breakwall at the ma...

Hi Guys

In my ice fishing tent I use a slip bobber on my second rod. This way if I am slow to get to the rod the fish often will hook themselves.

Releasing Lakers

Hi Guys I caught two nice lakers this past weekend. Both were about 7 pounds. They seem like they would give more fish then my family possibly could eat and I am not much into freezing fish. Anyways both fish were caught around 50 feet and came quickly into the net. I checked to see if their swim bl...

Quebec Trout

Hi guys We had an awesome opener, perfect conditions. Fishing was incredible. Our group caught a lot of fish today. The water was as warm as it has ever been for opening weekend and the bite was great. Many of these pictures were snapped from the front of a very old canoe, we leave at the lake. This...

Hey Joco I will be on Big Cedar. Usually the lakes start to get going two weeks after ice out. In the past couple of years the ice has stayed almost to the opening. So I think the opening weekend this year, the lakes will be in full swing. The trout were deep last year at opening as someone mentione...
