Rod and reel

I wouldn't get a SF reel for a first baitcast reel. I would just get a regular Curado.

Well I have to say about pre-fishing or scouting what ever you want to call it. When ever I go out with or without my partner I sting fish in the area that I'm looking in. (not many if there bigger fish) Once I find the size I'm looking for I leave. You can go to one spot one day and have little fis...

top water frog

Doctor the hooks yes sharpen! I don't like to open the hooks because allot of hooks these days are tempered and it weakens them. Try a longer rod like a flippin stick you find a big difference on your hook sets and landing your fish. I did use a flippin stick now I use a 7'10 bigger rod move more li...

Re: Slop Fishing

MT I don't think it's your hard hook set that's pulling out the hooks. If a bass comes up on a frog he should have both hooks in the roof of his mouth. What are you using for a slop frog? Steve Using a tourney frog. Perhaps it is not so much the how heavy the hook set, but perhaps the angle on whic...

Slop Fishing

As for fishing slop top water. Moss Boss is not a very good bait to use. I used them years ago but now I use a tournament frog. Moss Boss's are just locater’s very low hook up percentage. I like using the tournament frogs because they have a high quality hook and very sharp or sticky! This is what...

I agree a little but wait until you find Mr. Mean Bucket in a deep weed line then you might have a different story. Don't get me wrong about smallies getting the largies in the crap on jigs. Yeehaww!!!!

Good luck JP watch yourself on this body of water lots of rocks that aren't marked by anything. You'll find out how pressured this body of water is. Me personally I think it's one of the worst for pressure. You'll see more bassboats here that aren't doing tournaments! You'll have lots of water to pl...

Opener

Glad to hear you and Snag had a good time out on the Mighty Ottawa. After what I heard from the tournament on Sunday the Ottawa River was a little slow so our day wasn't as bad after all. I was a little disappointed with the size of the fish but numbers are just as good. I'll get you and Snag out ag...
