I suggest you look at the Fenwick Elite Tech Walleye series. I use the 6'6 M for drop shot (summer) and swimming a grub (whenever). It is a beautiful rod for any delicate presentation. They are currently $127 on the Lebaron's site, and they have several lengths and actions. The 6'9 model is a ML not...

I use the 7'3 H Vendetta for froggies and its perfect. I wouldn't spend a penny more on a rod for frogs.

Well here's my take. Nobody NEEDS another Bass Pro. From what I can see, you Ottawa boys have some great shops around locally. We have two out this way that get all of my business for rods, and about half of what I spend on reels and other tackle. The other half of my money goes to EBAY. I want to s...

Punching mats is one of few techniques I can say that I use very, very well. Here is my set-up: Rod - Shimano Crucial 7'3 Heavy Reel - Skeet Reese Revo Line - 65lb Sonic Braid As far as baits go, the thicker the mat, the more you will have to throw a texas rig. Big jigs work, but when things get gna...

i get out there about 20 times a year. its the closest lake to the dirty shwa where i live. as far as bass goes, you can have good days or really really really bad ones depending on the weather. i tend to stick with jigs, punch baits and frogs to target the big girls. smaller baits will produce bett...

I've got 8, 12, 15, 17, 20, and 25 Trilene 100% on various set-ups. First off, it doesn't like spinning reels, so don't go over 8lb on a 2500 or 3000 sized reel and don't expect it to cast like mono. Second, use KVD's line conditioner. It sounds like total BS, but that stuff is magic. Spray it on wh...

For what it costs, I'd get rid of it. 300yds of Sufix is about ten bucks at my local shop, so why risk a break off?

I post on topics that interest me, or ones that I feel I can help somebody out on. The reports people post on here are awesome, but that's just not my thing. I also refuse to take part in the pee pee contests that pop up on here.

I take it you are referring to a spinning reel? Fluoro generally mis-behaves on spinning gear anyways, but if it is exceptionally bad it is likely on backwards. If this is the case, it has to come off. You can wind it onto a large spool or someting else, as there is no need to throw it away. I use 1...

I've used both Motor Guide and Minnkota. The Minnkota is quiter at almost twice the the thrust, but these are two different price points. Given past experience with my 16', 50hp and stupid amount of gear, I'd say a 45lb unit will move you along just fine. It's quiet at low speeds, but will have enou...

This time last year my lic and $700 in tackle went over board. I paid the insulting $9 lost lic fee AT THE MINISTRY OFFICE, and I never did get anything in the mail. I have since purchased another for this year.

What kind of rod did you buy? I like to keep the weight of my combo as low as possible for this technique. The new Shimano Citica is a very lighweight reel for that price point. I never got into using flippin switches much. Regarding line, its really a personal thing. I keep two MH pitching set-ups ...

1) Northam Spinnerbait (Perch) - Burn it on a 7.1:1 baitcaster. Add a twitch at the beginning and another about half way back. Finds the aggressive fish. 2) Williams Wabler (copper & silver, hammered finish) - A nice steady retrieve, nothing fancy. Awesome on colder, cloudy days. Casts a mile on...
