I used to live just outside Barrie, I have lots of great memories with Simcoe. Every spring my uncle and I would go to the mouths of a creek, with huge nets and catch hundreds of rainbow smelt. Than we would take them home and fry them up!! I have also caught lots of huge smallmouth, and simcoe's wo...

Where are you launching from? Barrie baitstores will have plenty depth charts, same with Orillia.

From what I remember, Kempenfelt bay is the deepest part of the lake, drops to 300-400 feet. And when fishing keep and eye out for Kempenfelt Kelly!!

Personally, I catch almost ALL of my walleye on Jigs. I switch between white and black 1/8 - 1/4 jig heads depending on depth. And I switch between White and Yellow 3' YUM twister grubs.

Pike are just as tasty as Walleye and Crappie. It takes some practice to be able to get out the Y bones. However, once you are able to do that, you will have an abundant source of tasty pike (snot rockets are the best for eating)

So basically it is a tournament lure, the guys can afford to throw away the lures after every fish. Not sure how you arrived at that conclusion but affordability and "bang for the buck" certainly play a role for most of us when it comes to deciding which baits to buy. I was (and still am)...

I love the gulp leaches, however, they suck at staying on the hook. One good fight and the thing goes flying off your hook, or is torn to pieces. At the price a pack 0f 8 costs, I would prefer to buy real leaches.

How many fish are you expecting to catch off of a single Gulp leech? The thinness and texture is one of the reasons the Gulp leeches work so well. Some of the best plastics are often trashed after 1 fish and won't hold up for more than 3 or 4 fish. The Yamamoto and WaveWorm senkos are a prime examp...

Tricks to extending the life of plastics?

Hello, I am having a bit of trouble. I love to use imitation leach plastics, I recently got hooked on the Gulp 5' leaches. the problem I am having however, is that the leaches are very thin, and a fish can easily throw it off the hook, or tear it in half on my hook. Or worse, the nose is torn and sh...

You were on fire -- fantastic walleye fishing! I want to say "lucky", but it sounds like you had some skill involved, too. W. My parents live just up the road from the lake. Ive been fishing the lake since I was 7. Right now is the best time to catch walleye from this particular ar...

what are the rules on that anyways is it only the driver must be sober or everyone on board??? From what I know, you can only drink on a boat if the boat is equiped with a toilet and running water. Its not hard to outfit your boat with. Just get a jug, fashion yourself a seat, and then get a little...

Awesome! I went to college in Lindsay, I have fond memories of catching Walleyes right at the locks in town. Helped to supliment my diet, as my intake of protein was quite lacking, what with all the beer and KD! What worked me for me was a walking sinker behind a swivel, with about 2 feet of leader ...
