Re: Bass Pro No Go

Two or more months ago when I was a Tanger Outlets there was a big sign in the field that said future site of Cabela's.

Forward scanning sonar has been on the market for many years, mind you it is not really used in recreational fishing market due to the high cost and complexity of the transducer installation. I have been in a few large cruisers and commercial vessels that run forward scanning sonar. It is very simil...

I have been using Dr Depth for many years now and it is very important for my tournament fishing and contour mapping out structure I plan to fish. It is worth it if you plan to spend lots of time on a computer and recording data on the water. A small mid-lake hump about 625 sq feet will take about a...

Great to see you on and off the water Land-Shark. I am done for the season as I like to get the boat put away before the salt trucks hit the road.

See you in the spring or out on the ice this winter.

Quinte is popular because of the large walleye you can catch in one day of angling. This past Friday I had a 9 year-old angler in my boat that proceeded in catching 4 trophy walleye that weighed a total of 48 pounds. That 12 pound average is almost impossible on any other body of water. His personal...

Good fishing Jim and glad to see you land some nice walleye.

I am sure I will see you on the water sometime this fall. I was working the area just east of you on Saturday.

I usually try to stay away from these conversations, but we are talking about a ten pound walleye from Lake Ontario. You are hard pressed to catch anything under 26 inches out in the lake and almost every trip out you will land a 10 pound fish, many 28 inch fish will top the 10 pound mark if they ar...

September Walleye Gold

I have been busy fishing out in Lake Ontario for the big walleye all summer and now into the fall. I figure why wait for the big fish to head into Quinte when they are swimming around in the Lake all summer. When the winds lay down the fishing has been great so it wont be long before the walleye mov...

Nick, You can get them shallow in the fall if you want to fish at night. Many of the points and shallow reefs will hold some fish under the protection of darkness. The bite is a hit and miss depending on weather and bait movements, but as mentioned by Scott a majority of the fish are suspended over ...

Presently 46k winds with even higher gusts out on the big pond today. We will see if any one fishing big water can get to their fish and back before the cut-off time. Makes it more interesting on big water as anglers have to have many weather based plans with gas and time calculations on big runs. G...

Arches are simply caused by a target moving into and out of the cone of a sonar signal. So variables like sonar direction, ping speed, scroll speed, boat speed, water density, and etc. can effect the return image. Here is a very simple diagram that shows how a sonar returns an arch as the fish swims...

Hey Cyber, It was great that I could offer up a seat for the event as I was fishing alone in the afternoon. The guiding on Mississippi has been great with lots of great catches and it has also helped in dialling in the pattern that has been working for the larger fish that are cruising out in the ma...
