Re: Is the gate open now-a-days to a lake that has brown tro
You were right. There was a lot of trash and broken glass at the campsite. I cleaned up what I could. There was a couple of people camping in a camper on top of the hill, before the sand pile. I guess it was important for these guys to shoot a shotgun in the air at night. Talk about brain dead. Espe...

Is the gate open now-a-days to a lake that has brown trout?
Just wondering if the gate is open off the 511. If not, I'll go elsewhere and fish. Has anyone been there recently?

Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
The problem is getting worse. It used to be the lakes that were either close to the road or ones that you can drive too. The lake I'm talking about is about 7km from a maintained road. You cannot drive a truck there. Ice fishing last month I noticed a tarp roped between two trees. On the other side ...

Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
Thanks guys! It was a hot day that day. I was still feeling the effects of heat stroke/exhaustion I took at work about two days prior. Thought I was good enough to go but when the afternoon heat hit, I was feeling it. The land all around the area is crown, not private land. The guy that was upset ab...

Re: People leaving garbage!!!!
Have you ever dedicated a day to cleaning up a lake/campsite? I think I did good considering where I was, what I had, who I had for help (no one), and what I had to clean up. I know I'm not perfect, but I tried to do the right thing. I'm a km away from my truck. Funny where people will focus their n...

People leaving garbage!!!!
I have been noticing a problem more often when I go trout fishing. Starting a couple years ago, one of my favourite trout lakes was all-of-a-sudden being fished/camped on long weekends by a group of people. I met them that weekend. After that weekend, I noticed they left garbage at the campsite. Lot...

Re: darling long lake/ long lake creek
Catfish in the creek? You couldn't be more wrong. There would be mud pout/bullhead, minnows and maybe perch. That's it chum!...... You are willing to travel that far in god's country to catch catfish in a creek? Wow! Fish the Ottawa river man!

Has anyone noticed a pattern when trout bite and don't bite.
Through the years I've found that the water must be calm.
When the water is not calm, there is a smaller chance to catching trout.
also, fishing trout is a sport of misery. When the bugs are at their worst, the specs are biting the best.

what's your favorite technique for fishing brookies?
Just wanna get people talking here to share some of their tricks.
My favorite way is to blow up a worm, with split shot sinkers two to three feet up the line. The worm will float that much off the bottom.
Making the worm look natural and hiding the hook is key.
Cheers!

I have been working at AECL Chalk River for the past 3 months building a new building there. That leak would explain why the river is frozen right across the river, but not infront of the plant. That water must be warm. No worries.....88% of radiation that you are exposed to is from nature. The majo...
