Re: Fishing tips
The usual for walleyes; bottom bouncers with spinners with worms or blood suckers Use jigs once you find them. I have always found the 20 foot contour line the best depth for walleyes there, but try different depths. Anywhere there is a rocky point, there will be walleyes off it. For large pike find...

Re: Jigging for eyes
The way I bottom bounce or even troll from a canoe. 1) I use an 8 foot rod. I like the rod out on the left side and that is the side I can paddle on for miles. 2) I use a rod holder. You could attach it directly to the canoe but it may be in the way when you or others use the canoe for other purpose...

Re: Rideau water levels
I was down at Kars yesterday checking out ramps and water levels. The cement ramp at Kars is completely under water and is blocked off as you cannot even see it. The ramp by the community building is also completely flooded and also blocked off. Taylor park ramp is also flooded and blocked off. Reev...

Re: Who's Excited for Ice Fishing?!!..
Thanks for posting this Tia,
I had run out of books to read and then read this post.
So I pulled out Tim Allard's book, " Ice Fishing, The Ultimate Guide" and started reading it again.
Read this book and it really gets you primed for ice fishing !!!

Re: kicker motor stolen
We use a type similar to what you are thinking of getting on a 9.9 and have for 30 years since the last one was stolen from our locked shed. It would take a bit of a struggle to get off and with a motion sensor light close by I would think that thieves would not bother. However if they have the time...

Re: Cabelas... Whatchya Think?
I thought it was great last night. Lots of people but not too crowded. Spent an hour and a half there and had to leave because it was close to closing time. I do not always go to this type of store to buy everything all the time, I just enjoy walking around seeing all the great stuff. I did spend al...

Re: New Member couple questions
Hi, Yes your wife needs a fishing licence too, but if you only plan to keep a couple of fish, you may want to just buy a conservation licence for both of you as it will be much cheaper. Check out the limits on the lakes where you will be fishing though so you will not go over the limit if you are fi...

Re: Short shaft outboard on a 20 inch transom?
There are more facts needed. What boat are you putting it on? What do you want to do with it? My buddy who I fish with has a 16 foot princecraft with a 60 hp with a 20 inch transom. He also uses a 15 hp with a short shaft as a kicker that we use a lot for trolling. No problem with trolling speed but...

Re: A Place For Kids
Mississippi is excellent for bass and large sunfish and it will take a while to explore the whole lake. White lake, as said is excellent for anything. Ottawa River out of Braeside, just past Arnprior, you might get into cats. If you go to a lake with pike, prepare for it. I suggest taking the treble...

Re: Boat & Trailer security
One of my friends, a retired RCMP officer, used to take a tire off the trailer.
He said thieves are lazy and none of them carry a spare and a jack, they will always go for easier pickings.
